The Lyrics

Madonna's Crazy Cartoons! OS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqIIW7nxBgc Reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakanda_(comics)
Apha kuza ikati emnyama…

Last night I pictured Wakanda
Where people share my face,
Unconquered race.
Deep in the forests and mountains,
I can flee my yesterday, to hide away…

Africanic monarchy
Sheltered from society
With their own technology:
El país Wakanda
Where no invaders stayed,
No foreign enterprise,
No Dutch surprise, no French disguise
No British colonize.

I’d like to visit Wakanda!
T’Challa, His Majesty, he welcomes me.
I tell him, “Enkosi!”
Ask him, “Can I stay awhile,
Vacation style?”

Africanic paradise!
No contacts to blue my eyes;
No peroxide blondifies
El país Wakanda
No “Driving while I’m Black”,
No 9-1-1 surprise,
No KKK, no Nazis rise,
No alt-right battle cries.

I want to be where I’m free to be me
Where I work with my talents, earn a good salary!
Everyone’s beautiful just as they be
Where I’m free to love you, and you’re free to love me.

Two hours I spent in Wakanda,
But it’s cinematic’ly a fantasy…

I don’t know the Marvel world;
I was more a DC girl,
But for me, this dream unfurled:
Ilizwe Wakanda.
And while the movie played,
My spirits rose so high!
It filled my mind; my heart would fly
To Africanic skies!

Inspiration flows through me:
Healthy pride and dignity,
Thanks to creativity!
Ilizwe Wakanda!
I’ll set my goals so high!
Old limits I’ll defy!
I’ll break the walls and scale the skies
Through Heaven’s loving eyes.

La la la la, la la la
“Wakanda Forever!”
La la la la, la la la
“Sí, ¡gracias! Enkosi!”

La la la la…
“Wakanda Forever!”
Apha kuza ikati emnyama: (Xhosa) Here comes a black cat. Ilizwe: (Xhosa) land (Lizwe: (Xhosa) country) Enkosi: (Xhosa) thank you País: (Spanish) country, land

This one had a much deeper meaning than just being a “Black Panther” tribute parody. I liked this one a lot and it fit with Madonna’s original song about wanting a place to escape to

Wow! The African language appearances here were sheer genius, coupled against the deeper issues. As the Infinity War climax escalated, Wakandans probably were thinking, "There goes the neighborhood". This parody made me smile wistfully.

Wow! Black power reduced to comic book fiction praise!

I also thought about rewriting La Isla Bonita about the Black Panther. Knowing it’s been hard for me to come up with, I recently rewrote a couple of Madonna songs about Marvel superheroes, one about the Silver Surfer and the other about the Hulk. Anyways, great job on the Black Panther song!

I'm not into comics...haven't seen the film. But I like the parody. Great title.

Similarly to JAB, yet also think the parody is a great piece of work - and had never heard the OS but really like it.

Everyone: thank you for your comments! Scotty Dangerously: I'm curious; what were your ideas for this song?
Jeff Reuben - June 01, 2018 - Report this comment
Very well done. Set well against the OS and a good match for the deeper meaning.

My first shot across the Madonna catalogue was La Isla Bonita but I couldn't think of a good theme - would NEVER have come up with this - I agree with Matty, Melanie, deeper than the usual parody, nice stuff - 555

Apparently the only parody of the round that riled a certain One Guy to hit it over and over again - hence it's most certainly the overall best - 5s from me!

I'm acting up because Melanie has criticized my work in the past

Translator: when I criticized your work in the past, I don't think I gave you all 1's. To my recollection, I have never given all 1's, because I don't think anyone's work here is that bad. Part of supporting each other here at Amiright is giving constructive criticism, saying what works and what doesn't. One time my niece, at about age 20, cooked an excellent Thanksgiving dinner, but there was one problem: she had thought the grapes she had used in her compote were blueberries, so the compote had bigger, inedible seeds. Even then, it tasted good. I pointed it out to her, telling her the meal was otherwise excellent, not to crush her, but to point out the mistake so that she wouldn't repeat it in the future. I know that she might have felt bad about what I said, but she didn't retaliate by telling me in the future that all my cooking was no good. In fact, I supervised an Easter duck that she had started, and she said I was a good sous chef. Destructive criticism seeks to insult and tear down. Constructive criticism seeks to correct and improve.

Does the one bomber actually think that anyone has been swayed by the increase of one bombs from 5 to 13? That we are now convinced that ML actually did a HORRIBLE job on this parody? You couldn't possibly think something that stupid! So why keep doing it?
