The Lyrics

Closing time - a drink or two
Can smell it on your breath
And I'm still standing here,
You're just inches away
And I think it's time I left
'Cause you're looking gormless, raging in the pub car park tonight

You hear your name - it makes you rankle
I try to calm you with a smile
Makes you think I'm talking 'bout you
And it's really driving you wild
So there's an insecurity inside your little head tonight

But I ain't dissing you at all
That's where you're wrong, OK
I ain't dissing you,
No matter what you think I say
There's no message in my words
You're only thinking that 'cause you're wrecked
And 'cause I know how violent you become
I didn't mean no disrespect

All my words, they have no meaning,
At least, none that you can understand
You microcephalic, pusillanimous gobshite

I ain't dissing you at all
That's where you're wrong, OK
I ain't dissing you,
I meant your dress-sense, when I said you looked gay
If there's a message that you're sending out, like a telegraph to my soul
It's that you're a pointless and pathetic camel-rogering asshole

But I ain't dissing you at all
That's where you're wrong, OK
I ain't dissing you,
I think it's great you wear a toupée
I ain't dissing you,
I ain't dissing you, I'm lying through my teeth
'Cause you're a gormless waste of breath, DNA and life

[Vaguely ad-libbed ending bit]
Ain't dissing you, I ain't dissing you
I ain't dissing you, so I'm lying through my teeth
Ain't dissing you, I ain't dissing you
I ain't dissing you, I ain't dissing you
I ain't dissing you, I ain't dissing you, ain't missing you, oh no
OK.. well, just put the gun away, I ain't dissing you.

"microcephalic, pusillanimous gobs***e"...you ol' charmer, Phil. Loved this long time. I've got something along the same lines as this in the pipeline. Watch this space. 555

Didn't know what this song was until I looked it up on Youtube and then it hit me. It's that lame 80s song that goes "something something something something I'm Missing You!" Good parody!

I like the offset between "I ain't dissin'" and the "but you're a jerk" motif. Kind of like, nothing personal, but you're an ass!

Kristof - looking forward to it :-)

Matthias - yes, it's a very (very) lame 80s song

Warren - that's kind of the way the OS works, too, saying "I ain't missing you" while the words imply the opposite
Peter Andersson - August 13, 2010 - Report this comment
Inspired by drunk hecklers at your live performances I presume?
Phil Alexander - August 13, 2010 - Report this comment
Peter - not exactly: after an on-line chat with an American, I was looking for a song called "Missing You" to write about how they always seem to miss out the letter "u" in words that should have them. Found this song, but it was singularly inappropriate for the original idea. So I wrote this instead.
