| Original Song Title: | "Centerfold" |
| Original Performer: | J. Geils Band |
| Parody Song Title: | "Angle is the Centerfold (for bowler's from the 80's)" |
| Parody Written by: | Wade Kiner |
I wrote this(with the help of my friends Rick and Jay) about twenty years ago, at the dawn of the reactive resin era of bowling. The AMF Angle was the first reactive resin ball. This song was our praise to the Angle...
Does it roll? Does it hook?
Is the drilling complete?
My brand new pro-shop Angle
bowled me right off my feet
It was purest urethane
No one could ever stain
The memory of my Angle
Could never cause me pain
Years go by I'm lookin' through a bowlin' magazine
And there's my pro-shop Angle on the pages in-between
CHORUS:
My blood runs cold
My Yellow Dot has just been sold
My Angle is the centerfold
Angle is the centerfold
(Repeat)
Getting a sheet at the desk
While I was thinkin' about lane dress
I was shy I turned away
Before it caught my eye
I was shakin' in my shoes
Afraid of leavin' solid 2's
Something had a hold on me
When Angle rolled close by
That soft porous urethane
Too magical to touch
Too see it in my bowling bag
Is really just too much
CHORUS
My blood runs cold
My Yellow Dot has just been sold
My Angle is the centerfold
Angle is the centerfold
(Repeat)
It's okay I understand
This ain't no solid 10-pin land
I hope that when this issue's gone
I'll see you when the lanes are on
Take you car, Yes we will
We'll take your car and drive it
We'll take it to the City Bowl
And roll some lines in private
A part of me has just been ripped
As The 4 pin has just been tripped
Oh no, I can't deny it
Oh yea, I guess I gotta buy it!

Hey Wade! I used to bowl in the 80's, till that particular avenue of pleasure was taken away from me! I still have my Angle, even in it's own Angle bag! Languishing under the house......Loved the parody! Well done.
