The Lyrics

I got the idea for this parody after watching a horse race at the Maryland State Fair and when I heard the track announcer say Two Minutes to Post-Time, I thought "Why not come up with a parody of this song with a horse racing theme to it?" I took time to make sure the pacing of the parody was adequete enough. BTW, the same old song part refers to the song that's played before the Kentucky Derby every year "My old Kentucky Home"
2 Minutes to Post-Time

Bet for gain or play the game, but I don't have a reason
The favored horse is on the course, and it's the racing season
Bleary eyes still burn inside, from betting a sure loser
Play with cash wishing for a splash, for the sake of winning big

The gambler's greed or the greatest need
The torture, the sweating, the pain
Go to bet again, losing is a stain
Don't you bet on the longshot anymore

2 minutes to post-time
The hands that signal doom
2 minutes to post-time
To take the joy out of the room

The announcer shouts let the horses out, we'll show those stupid gamblers
Voices scream of human flames
For a prime time wagering feast yeah !
As the reasons for the poor bets spell losses for the bettors
We oil the jaws of the gaming machine and feed it with our money

The gambler's greed or the greatest need
The torture, the sweating, the pain
Go to bet again, losing is a stain
Don't you bet on the longshot anymore

2 minutes to post-time
The hands that signal doom
2 minutes to post-time
To take the joy out of the room

The crumpled rags and little slabs of tickets torn in two
And the frazzled brains of those who remain point there fingers right at you
As the bad man says these words and makes us all sing that same old song
To the tune of betting millions, to make us empty out our wallets

The gambler's greed or the greatest need
The torture, the sweating, the pain
Go to bet again, losing is a stain
Don't you bet on the longshot anymore

2 minutes to post-time
The hands that signal doom
2 minutes to post-time
To take the joy out of the room

Post-time, post-time, post-time, it's race time
Post-time, post-time, post-time, it's race time
Post-time, race time

Surprising in a way how well a lot of the original words fit with this idea. Nicely done, Jason :-)
