Song Parodies -> Red Neck Tradition
| Original Song Title: | "Family Tradition" |
| Original Performer: | Hank Williams Jr. |
| Parody Song Title: | "Red Neck Tradition" |
| Parody Written by: | Royce Miller |
Country people here start celebratin' early
On nearly every corner there's some kind of fireworks stand
I guess they've got a pyromania condition
Lord I guess it's more or less a red neck tradition
Chorus:
So I ask you, I wanna know
Bubba, why do you stink?
("I'm poppin firecrackers")
What is all that smoke?
("They're called fireworks")
Why must you make this whole neighborhood choke?
"I start two weeks before July 4,
Call it my affliction
So leave me alone, I'll pop all night long
It's a red neck tradition"
He is very proud of the noise he makes
I reckon it's his way of makin this world shake
The fireworks stands are open
And it's way too hot for fishin'
So leave him alone, he'll pop all night long
It's a red neck tradition
And don't ask him
Bubba, why do you stink?
(I'm lightin' bottle rockets)
What is all this smoke?
(They're called fireworks)
Why must you make this whole neighborhood choke?
I stopped and thought it over
Bubba, how'd you get in this condition?
He said, Leave me alone, I'll pop all night long
It's a red neck tradition"
Lord, I've found bottle rockets in my roof's gutter
In my yard they make an awful clutter
I asked that guy Bubba, how'd you get in this condition?
He said leave me alone, I'll go all night long
It's a red neck tradition...
Chorus
On nearly every corner there's some kind of fireworks stand
I guess they've got a pyromania condition
Lord I guess it's more or less a red neck tradition
Chorus:

Royce, I always enjoy your stuff, and this one is no exception. Fun piece, 5s!
Rod, thanks very much; this parody is from true life; true true life
I think this is just hilarious. I am a big Hank Williams Jr. fan too. I don't think I have missed a concert in Nashville. That was just funny and so true!! There is at least one redneck in the neighborhood that does that. And in my neighborhood that redneck is me.
Jennifer, thanks for your comments. Yes, I think everyone should have to spend a few days on the street where I live; glad you understand!
Dern Tootin best parody I's read in a long shot I reckon...
