Song Parodies -> (Don't) Eat English Beef
| Original Song Title: | "Beyond Belief" |
| Original Performer: | Elvis Costello & the Attractions |
| Parody Song Title: | "(Don't) Eat English Beef" |
| Parody Written by: | Jim A |
B.S.E it creeps into the meat
the cattle herd are all replete
papers linger on infection issues
contamination laws are quite easy to misuse
and now the farmer sits
with a field of cows eating their own sh!t
to the government they will grovel
they wait for hand outs from their insurers
you'll hear the government say "it's your fault" as
the interparty battle has become less novel
So in Westminster and the House of Lords
with a two-faced minister
who gets his applause
who doesn't recommend
battling this disease
his defense, it costs so much don't you see?
with Foot and Mouth on the increase
New Labour act so careless
do they have to be so useless and tactless
and now they seem to find,
they must burn the sheep completely
they seemed to give the reason:
vaccines weren't used so quickly
they might say that it's the tories fault
export to the French or Belgian folks
the disease can spread too far and generate some grief
I tell you - don't eat English beef
the rules were clumsy and cunning
lack of regulation stunning
and theres many operations shady
all the farmers ignoring the issues
so called protestors from country
looking for someone to sue
I've got a feeling,
that B.S.E will give us grief
Foot and Mouth's not appealing
so please don't eat English Beef
the cattle herd are all replete
papers linger on infection issues
contamination laws are quite easy to misuse
and now the farmer sits
with a field of cows eating their own sh!t
to the government they will grovel

This is an excellent parody of the original, and the lyrics are right on the mark in terms of social commentary. Brilliant work!!!
I love this song and was thinking about it, but you're probably th only one that knows it.
