The Lyrics

This is a song sung from Gimli's perspective...I was just imagining him explaining his bond with The Elf to the folks back home...
My best friend's an elven prince
While I'm Dwarfish all the way
He stands by me, by me, by me
You know he stands by me anyway

He's immortal, he'll never die
And he's quite a pretty guy--yeah
At first we didn't get along
We had each other wrong

Let's hear it for the elf
Let's give the elf a hand
Let's hear it for Leg-o-las
You know you gotta understand
Whoa, maybe he's no Aragorn
It's been 3000 years since he was born
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Let's hear it for the elf

And maybe he wears green tights
And has really long blond hair
But he'd fight for me, for me, for me
So I don't really even give a care

And he loves to shoot his bow
And he looks good, don't you know
He's saved my ass so many times
It just blows my mind!

Let's hear it for the elf
Let's give the elf a hand
Let's hear it for Leg-o-las
You know you gotta understand
Maybe he's no Aragorn
It's been 3000 years since he was born
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Let's hear it for the elf

(repeat chorus)

Great parody, Arwen!

Gee, haven't ya ever wondered about that odd-couple, Gimli and Legolas....? ;-D

Thanks, Johnny...they do have a great dynamic, don't they?

Hmm... all dwarf songs consists of just one word, with variations just in the pronounciations:
Gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold etc. (Or is that just when Terry Pratchett is channeling them?). :-)

Gold is all well and good, but what you REALLY want to find is mithril....watch out for the occasional Balrog, though, when you're digging - they're big, mean, nasty, ugly S.O.M.'s ("Sons Of Morgoth").

Gimli could also rework a Kirsty MacColl song as 'There's A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He's Elvish'!

Ha! That's all yours, Pickle...go ahead and write it!

That guy that Kevin Bacon was teaching how to dance during the "let's hear it for the boy" sequence in the movie "Footloose" used to be more or less handsome ,like Legolas, now,he looks more like Gimli (without the beard, though!). 5,5,5,

LOL...Chris Penn...I'd have to agree that he's really let himself go over the years...but I'm not of the opinion that he was EVER good looking. Thanks for the vote!!

But at least Kevin stayed pretty much the same and to paraphrase my fav of the Fab four,(not the ones from the Shire)-Pellenor Fields Forever !(just an idea!; )

Arwen - No, I haven't seen LOTR yet! Went to rent "Fellowship" a couple times and Blockbuster was all rented out at the time...it's been a couple weeks, maybe they'll have it around now. Anyway, I know the original song here and in this one it's not hard too tell what's going on. You could sub. almost any names in and change the specific feats and it makes sense. So 5-5-5 and good to see you back in the entries again.

Paul...hi there! It's good to be around...but I haven't posted anything in AGES...which kind of bums me out. (i actually posted this back in december...) I'm cooking some stuff up, though...and hope to be on the entry side as well as the comment side by the end of the week. I know...you'll be on the edge of your seat...hehehe. Oh, and go get the movie(s), mister...I'm still dying for your review!!
