Johnny D challenged me to write a song using the word "petroglyph." So I did.
Hiking around, red rock bluffs
Seeking petroglyphs, pictures of
Sheep and corn stalks, people too
All I want is to get one quick view
I see cave walls every time I dream
I'm an Indian artifact fiend
I love that thing called history
They're all I want, my fantasy
Oh, look at that deer upon that high cliff wall
Oh, try not to fall!

But please don't touch them!
I'm stumbling around, the July heat
I keep tripping over my feet
See that cactus, in that rut?
I'm picking its thorns out of my butt
But they got some kinda hold on me
they're all wrapped up in mystery
Who put them there? I want to see
I love the ancient artistry
Oh, look at that deer upon that high cliff wall
