Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Company Christmas Party+Vast Overconsumption of Alcohol=The Tech Guy who has never talked to me before in his life falling in love with me on the dance floor...
Saw him walking toward me and my gut began to fill with fright
Hoped that he'd just ask for a light
But he beat all the other men...asked me if I wanted to dance
He's looking for a little romance
Won't get half a chance

When he said he liked the dress I'm wearing
Ran his fingers through my hair
Wanted to die
I closed my eyes

Tech Support Fred
Is dancing with me
Cheek to cheek
He's had too much beer
If you're asking me
And 3 kamikazes
Though I'd like to go
This drunk's hooked to my side
I'll always regret
The keg he drank tonight

He never even talks to me, what made him so brave tonight?
Didn't drink the whole bar...not quite
I was crazy
Halfway through the song he hiccuped, asking if I'd be his bride
And blew his beer breath in my face; and I began to sway

And I had never found him appealing
'Cause appeal is just what he's got the least of
And it's less tonight

Tech Support Fred
Is dancing with me
Cheek to cheek
My friends watch and cheer
Yeah, they're mocking me
I don't think they're funny
Though I'd like to go
This brute's hooked to my side
I'll always regret
The keg he drank tonight

I'll always regret
The keg he drank tonight

Oh, Tech Support Fred
My Tech Support Fred?

No thank you!

If only all of life's unpleasant moments could lead to such great songs- this cracked me up :-) 5's
neminem - December 05, 2004 - Report this comment
Absolutely brilliant. 5'd.

GEEK to cheek, Arwen! Loved it. But we IT guys don't appreciate being stereotyped, and if I was there I'd look directly into your shoes and tell you myself :-)

Johnny...I kind of compiled more than one incident into one song...but...yes...it's a scary life I lead...=) Thanks!

Adam...I don't think I could deal with most of life's unpleasant moments if I didn't go ahead and write a parody about them...thanks!!

neminem...thanks, buddy! I NEVER tire of being called brilliant....=)

Steven...for the most part, I love tech guys. They do all sorts of techie favors for me...=) I just don't like drunk, drooling on my shoulder guys...tech or not...=) LOL on your last comment, btw...=) Thanks!

LOL, Auntie Wen. I, personally, have a thing for techies (of course I pay them less when they're drunk...wink wink), so of COURSE you're getting 5's.
Arwen - December 05, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks, Emi! I wouldn't turn my nose up to a cute techie...but most of the ones in my life have been like SNL's "Nick Burns." Not so hot.

Arwen, can't really remember too much of the OS so I didn't vote...but this is a very good read.
Arwen - December 05, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks, Paul! Normally I would insist that you run out and get a copy of the original in order to listen to it and award me a score...but...I don't want to subject anyone to listening to this original more often that is necessary...

It may be just me, but if I were about to propose, and I hiccuped right at the start, I'm sure I wouldn't persevere with the proposal - it's all in the timing, right? - I didn't mind Fred up until then - give him another chance Arwen - I mean anyone who likes kamikazes is OK by moi - I'll bribe you with 5s (admit it - he was gone as soon as you discovered his name was Fred, wasn't he...(apologies to all Freds reading this))
Jeff Reuben - December 06, 2004 - Report this comment
Hmmm, computer tech guy, drinks beer...if I didn't know better, I'd be really bummed out!
Arwen - December 06, 2004 - Report this comment
Stuart...no second chances for this guy! He didn't really even have a first chance...not one that he remembered the next day, anyway...=)

Jeff...that's right...you know better! And speak of the devil...the culprit just came up to my desk and tried to make small talk...didn't work out so good.

Arwen, pacing very good until the end, maybe you have a different version than I. I won't ding ya, cause this is hilarious. :-D
Arwen - December 06, 2004 - Report this comment
Okay...I AM going to have to ban you now...for saying my pacing was off. ; ) Maybe you have the unplugged version, Tim?? ; ) This was right on according to my version...I won't post unless it fits perfectly...at least perfectly for me...=)

So...tell me more about yourself. I looked at your profile on the messageboard after your post...but...you haven't left any details. You can tell me on the thread if you don't want to tell me here...

I have my bio up on my author page. Other than what's on there, the only other thing I can think of, is that I expect to be in the top 40 by Christmas...
Arwen - December 06, 2004 - Report this comment
Well...all the luck in the world. It honestly couldn't matter to me less where I am in the standings...so...I'm sure you'll overtake me without me even noticing...=)

I giggled clear through this babydoll! FABulous. And you really are brilliant!
Arwen - December 07, 2004 - Report this comment
You're giggling now...but something tells me you would have been one of the ones giggling on the sidelines of the dance floor, too! It's a good thing you kick so much ass...=)

Very funny, Arwen - I had a look at this a few days ago, but couldn't remember the tune (other than the "The lady in reeeeeeed" bit)... finally found a CD at home with it on (I've only got "Best Moves", and it's not on that... but it *is* on one of the children's "Now that's what I call commercial crap #2451" or something like that). It does fit rather well 8-)
Arwen - December 09, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks a bunch, Phil!!

5s just for the title alone...this was a classic recreation of every office party I've ever been to. Brilliant
Arwen - December 22, 2004 - Report this comment
Well, thanks, Kristof! Hopefully you're not the "Fred" at those parties! ; )
