Understand that this is from a hardcore x-men geek. It spans many saga's and is centered around the comic series, NOT THE MOVIES for the most part. And in case anyone wants to double check, a complete list of the 'formal names' of x-men that I used in this parody is included at the bottom of the parody.

2nz, YEAH!! I'm an old Marvel Comics geek - this is a masterpiece. 555
This parody is a superb example of squeezing all the rhythm and pacing out of the original tune without using a single line or a single word from the original tune.
I've said elsewhere that sometimes I love to write a parody that steals lots of words and lines directly from the original song and forces them to serve the parody's purpose - case in point, the parody I posted today, "Traces Of Martian Water" - but I also sometimes like to do what 2nz has done so masterfully here - again, very well done, this is top-quality work.

2nz - Wow, looks like a nice piece of work...However, it is total "Geek". amd a different "Geek" dialect than mine. On top of that I honestly have never paid a whole lot of attention to much of Billy Joel all these years, I recognize bits and pieces because the stuff was and I guess still is played quite a bit. I even saw a concert of his on TV once, I think. He was actually alright, but the songs didn't really stay in my head after it was over. Anyway, boils down to DKTOS here. I don't know if you've posted much lately, I spent February pretty much off-line except when I hit the Public Library and a couple of times I went to Kinko's to do some stuff and checked on the site while I was there. Just got my PC last Friday so I looking forward to checking out a lot of stuff again.
Thanks Johnny. I won't lie, I worked really hard and for way too much time on this. Right now I have this obsession with changing everything that I can about a song in my parody of it. However, I know what you mean about leaving certain lines alone. It really helps in orienting people to the parody if you do it well. I hope it does well, just so I can see who else is willing to step up and be a marvel geek. :c)
Paul, your right. I haven't been posting as much. I've had a bunch of work to do, so right now it takes a really strong idea to get me writing. Thanks for the comment.
With such a big song, I'll let it slide that you had to throw in X-Factor, Excalibur and (maybe) X-Force ;-)
;c) Thanks, Rice.
MOST EXCELLENT! I LOVE this parody! My friends and I are all X-Men geeks and wish to become part of everyone's favorite outlaw mutant superhero team! I'm givin' you all 5's! My friends probably will, too, once I send this to them! Oh, and just as a little nit-pick, I think Angel's last name is Worthington, not Warthington. Still, I give you props for knowing his middle name. I didn't have a clue on what it was!
Thanks, Erin. I'll double check that Archangel thing, but you're probably right. Good catch.
Excellent. I used to be an X-Men geek but I've lost track of the comics the last few years.
Don't know many of them but I'm giving 5s for the sheer work you've put in, and attention to timing.
Thanks Steven. And don't worry Jeff, you're not alone on losing track in recent years. I ended up learning some new stuff just for the parody.
Wow, 2nz...I know I haven't been around much lately...and look what I missed out on! SOO good...bravo!! 5s!
Thanks Arwen. I haven't been around too much either, but the tournament (check the 'parodies' message board if you don't know what I mean) and my responsibilities for 'the week' have been keeping me in the neighborhood. Can we look forward to some Harry Potter stuff from you as the movie comes closer and closer? :c)
You know...I've got some HP ideas brewing...but who's to say when they'll show up on the site. "Real life" is keeping me kind of busy as well...but, I really just need to get back in the swing of writing...I'm in a bit of a rut. Hopefully I'll be able to pound some stuff out this week...cross your fingers!
This is fantastic. Kudos to you for doing it - I've wanted to parody 'We Didn't Start The Fire' for months but never did because the timing of the song put me off but this is amazing. The pacing is dead on. And it's damn funny too. All 5s from me!
Thanks Kim. Good luck to you if you ever parody it. It takes... well let's just say I spent probably the equivalent of two whole 8-hour work days, spread out over three weeks, on this thing.
Bravo, 2nz! All fives, good luck in the contest, and BTw, speaking of the X-Men, go check out "Mutant Cajun Man" by yours truly. It's about Gambit, but you could probably guess that from the title :)
Hey..just noticed the HP discussion...any Harry Potter geeks can go check out one of three my parodies of "Glycerine", called "Slytherin" (The other two are "Listerine" and "Mister Clean", BTW), for some Potter material...it's been sitting around for a long time with next to no reaction, so some votes and comments would really be nice
2nz - swiss cheese memory on the original. My kids are X-Men fans. I was a bit too old when X-Men really hit it big to be up on everything about them. I spent lots of money on their promotions though, having two sons who really got into this stuff. Good luck on the March SOTM competition.
All I can say is.......WOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!
(ABC) Good one!!
(ABC) See above!
S.T.G. seconded. I DKTOS and recognised only half a dozen of the names, but it is quite evident that there is brilliant research, rhyming and effort heree. If I was an Xmen fan I would probably be mutating into the Pants Creamer. 5-4-5
abc -- WOW you know a lot about Xmen!
(ABC) Looks very well done, but what I know about x-men you could put in an amoeba's thimble...
this is really impressive ... a very clever parody .. don't know the material but can appreciate the quality of this ...
Gotta love the X-Men
You clearly put a ton of work into this, Looney 2nz. Alas, all I know about the X-Men is that the flick had a blonde Halle Berry, plus some hot babe in blue body paint. Which, I suppose, is enough to make me want to join the X-Men too.
YEAHYEAHYEAH 555!!
