Song Parodies -> It's Still Octopus to Me
| Original Song Title: | "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" |
| Original Performer: | Billy Joel |
| Parody Song Title: | "It's Still Octopus to Me" |
| Parody Written by: | Michael Pacholek |
Is it weird that I've written a parody for "Spider-Man 2" without having SEEN, let alone written a parody about, the original? Yeah, of all the things I do, THAT is the weird one. Once again, I turn to my man Billy.
What's the matter with this song I'm singin'?
(Don't you know that it's for a flick?)
Maybe I should just go off web-slingin'.
(It's a special-effectin' trick!
Don't you know about the new movie's villain?
He's mean and he likes dominatin' and killin'!)
Everybody's talkin' 'bout the bad guy, funny, but
he's still Octopus to me.
What's the matter with my science hero?
(Don't you know fusion went kaboom?)
Should I try to keep his crimes to zero?
(If you try, you might face your doom!
Nowadays, you might end every fight hobblin'!
You're gonna wish you were still fightin' Green Goblin!)
Eight arms, no charms, no matter who he harms
he's still Octopus to me.
Oh, it doesn't matter what they say in the papers
'cause the Bugle boss is still so mean.
There's a Spider-Man in town, Jameson will always frown
'cause the story's in a magazine!
He wants to roll in the green!
How about a set of gamma-ray muscles
and a torn purple pair of pants?
(Well, you got problems enough with your tussles
and that "Hulk" film, it had no chance!
Try to get with that cute Mary Jane Watson?
You're being evicted, might be sleepin' in a Datsun!)
And the old Doc, new Ock, I'm in hock, what a shock!
He's still Octopus to me!
All right, MJ!
(saxophone break)
Ooooooooh, woo!
What's the matter with a Spider-Man sequel?
(Don't you know studio's in dutch?)
"Harry Potter 3," its sales, we'll equal!
(If you think so, you think too much!
Don't you know about the new villain, Parker?
A real big reason why this film is kinda darker!)
He's a bad guy, looks fly, he thinks I'm gonna die.
He's still Octopus to me.
Everybody's talkin' 'bout the bad guy, funny, but
he's still Octopus to me.
Woo... Woo!

With apologies to Lotus Bass, for sort of ripping off his classic version of "Rogaine" in the last verse.

Having seen the movie last night, I say that you get fives for a very fine parody. *curse me and my infallible logic, right?*
I haven't seen the movie...(yet?)...but I'm a sucker for the good Billy parody...5s, Michael...=)
Clever, funny, and pacing was dead-on. This was easy and fun to sing. 5s of course!
nice going, michael...best one i read today
"If you try,you might face your DOOM"? Have you been peeking at the script for Spider-Man 3 ? 555!
Great pacing, Web-Singer.
The lines for the d*amn midnight premier tied up all the traffic in Hollywood for hours.... >:c( Good parody tho'!
Thank you, everyone. Alfred Molina makes a great movie villian, though I still have trouble seeing him as Tevye. (He's currently doing "Fiddler On the Roof" on Broadway.) Thought Police: Considering what you said, I think it's fantastic that you didn't give me a four. And if the Ones Dork hits me... "It's clobberin' time!"
You know,Peter could have just tied those webs together and saved himself a lot of trouble...
Great job here, I wrote mine for tomorrow before I saw this. I wonder about Spidey and his webbing. Did you see the thickness of the strands that he hangs onto on the train and that he lies around in? No wonder he's tired all the time! You try shooting that much that often!
