| Parody Song Title: | "Key Logger" |
| Parody Written by: | Mike Littoris |
A key logger is a hacker who uses a program to detect letters typed into an online form by someone else. This is a method of identity theft. I apologize in advance to anyone who like me, didn’t know this song but listens to it due to this parody. I found the Key Largo video on You Tube and listened to as much as I could stomach. If there are verses that don’t pace well it is because I couldn’t get past listening to more than the first few lines. The song title was to tempting not to use though.
Can’t believe all the trouble
Didn’t think I’d be harmed
Network security; I didn’t bother
Can’t say I was wasn’t warned
'bout Hackers stealing my ID
Careful I should try to be
Should have listened but no
Been getting’ strange e-mail lately
They took it all
Discovery Card® starts to call
My business is going under
Stolen by a key logger
I really thought I did
Assure my passwords were all hid
Target of a traffic sniffer
Being used by a key logger
The text they did decipher
From my bank account
Passwords I didn’t surrender
Buddy they cleaned me out
I am fit to kill, so do it again
Rest assured that I will
My assets I will defend
They took it all
On hard times I will fall
So take my advice brother
Be aware of the key logger
Passwords weren't encrypted
Down this slippery slope I slid
Targeted by a traffic sniffer
The victim of a key logger
Didn’t think I’d be harmed
Network security; I didn’t bother
Can’t say I was wasn’t warned
'bout Hackers stealing my ID
Careful I should try to be
Should have listened but no
Been getting’ strange e-mail lately
They took it all

Good title switch and a good warning... but would encrypting passwords do any good if the logger is on the local machine? Some banks try to circumvent that by presenting a "keypad" image, which varies each time, so that you just click your mouse on the image that has the character that corresponds to your password.... Security writer Steve Gibson has been addressing that issue in his last few podcasts. http://www.grc.com/SecurityNow.htm. %
Good parody, but your author name worries me slightly. Is it your actual name, or is it a mock-up of 'something else'?
Thanks TT, Jason. I'll never tell, but my distant cousin Mike Oxhard might .
