The Lyrics

I wrote this parody back in 1990 with my brother. We thought it was pretty funny. It helps if you have memories of the AMC Hornet, a pos car made by the now defunct AMC car company.
What’ll we get for one thousand dollars?
Every’ting you want
Everything?
Every’ting
Ooh! Don’t buy that, baby! Ahh!
Hold off on this! Oh, they’re gonna sock it to you!
Aaahh! Ooohh!

I bought a Hornet
It’s been broke a long time

Sittin’ at home with my broke down car
So I got the phone book for a tow truck to call
Picked up the telephone, then dialed the 7 digits
Said, “My car is broke! Can you come fix it?
He arrived at my house, knocked on the door
Not having no idea that I had walked to the store
It always overheats, it stalls without warning
My car’s a piece of crap, cause I bought a Hornet

I bought a Hornet
I bought a Hornet
I bought a Hornet
It’s been broke a long time

Girls always ask me why I walk so much
I say, “My car’s wheel fell off from a missing lug nut.”
‘Cause it’s a lemon, and it’s making me mad
I can’t tell my mama and I can’t tell my dad
I know he’ll be disgusted when he sees the engine busted
My mom will be so mad when she sees it leaking gas
It always overheats, it stalls without warning
My car’s a piece of crap, cause I bought a Hornet

I bought a Hornet
I bought a Hornet
I bought a Hornet
It’s been broke a long time

You can say I’m desperate, even call me perturbed
But you’ll say I’m a loser when I’m broke and deserted
I play with the radio, but it’s no good
The car starts blowing steam, so I pop the hood
Just like a man, too proud to quit, I’d rather die
I get back in my car and start to cry
It always overheats, it stalls without warning
My car’s a piece of crap, cause I bought a Hornet

I bought a Hornet
I bought a Hornet
I bought a Hornet
It’s been broke a long time

It’s true, my car is broken and has really cost me
It breaks down when it’s hot and when it rains the seat's soggy
I tell my parents that I’m going out
Never to the movies, just straight to the mechanic’s house
I said to myself, I don’t like to play the fool
But this car has me licked, and it sucks up my money too
It always overheats, it stalls without warning
My car’s a piece of crap, cause I bought a Hornet

I bought a Hornet
I bought, bought a Hornet
I bought a Hornet
It’s been broke a long time

Thanks for checking out my parody. I hope you found it amusing.

Don't like and thus don't listen to rap, so DKTOS, but I liked the concept. The AMC Hornet was essentially an (IMHO) attractive rebody of the aged Rambler American with the name of the legendary Hudson Hornet (Hudson and Nash, famous for the Rambler merged in 1973 and took over Kaiser Motors [makers of Jeeps and Willys trucks after 1955 and makers of large luxury sedans in the vein of Mercury or Oldsmobile from 1946 to 1955] in 1971. Hornet variants include Gremlin (1970-78, 6-cyl/V-8/Porsche-Audi-VW 4-cyl, 2-door 4-seat hatchback), Concord (luxury Hornet, available in the same hatchback, wagon, coupe and sedan but without the potent 360ci V-8 that a few pre-1973 Hornet coupes have, 1978-83), Eagle (Spirit and Concord with Jeep 4wd as an attempt to counter Subaru, 1981-89) and Spirit (redesigned Gremlin, wagon or hatchback, same engines, 1978-83). A "Jeep Cowboy" El Camino-style pickup on a wagon chassis was planned but cancelled just before production.
