This is a continuation of the theme about my wife's cooking I started with Pukin' Up Breakfast , which I submitted three or four days ago
On my dinner plate I see
Two flies crying out in pain
Once they'd tried the pie they're martyred
I knew they'd never eat again
Dinner was some burning timber
Only carcasses remain
Now they're face down in the embers

Some day in fly heaven yonder
They'll laugh time and time again
But today they know they've blundered

Dee - Well done, a truly beautiful piece; it takes true talent to get the reader thinking "Oh, those POOR flies" when ready your work. I liked the reference to "fly heaven" too, trying to imagine that...but all I get is this buzzing sound...also, agree with alvin - this is easily the best parody I've even read about two flies in pain...flying some 5's your way.
