Song Parodies -> Cabrera
| Original Song Title: | "Candida" |
| Original Performer: | Tony Orlando & Dawn |
| Parody Song Title: | "Cabrera" |
| Parody Written by: | Michael Pacholek |
When Melky Cabrera botched a fly ball for an inside-the-park three-run homer against the Red Sox on May 9, 2006, I wrote "Use Two Hands!" to "Knock Three Times" to rip him, regardless of the fact that he's just 21 years old and the ball was wind-blown. But on June 6, now playing left field, he made a spectacular catch, robbing Manny Ramirez of a game-winning home run and saving a Yankee win. To be fair, I now have to write a sequel, and I'm using Tony & Dawn again.
(instrumental opening)
The stars, they've come out.
For Yanks, they jump and shout.
And they know that Sox fans have their alibis.
And oh, who are you? Just an injury substitute.
But your Web Gem might win the first prize.
Melky Cabrera!
Made up for last month's error!
They'll play that catch now forever
'cause it's smooth, so fresh and clean!
Melky Cabrera!
Jeter, Giambi, Rivera
and Posada stand and they cheer ya.
'Cause that catch lives in our dreams.
The future looks bright. Joe Torre told me so last night.
Said he saw young players winning in the sunshine.
And there were you and I raising title banner high.
And for the Yankees, twenty-seventh time.
Melky Cabrera!
Made up for last month's error!
They'll play that catch now forever
'cause it's smooth, so fresh and clean!
Melky Cabrera!
Bernie, Sheffield and Rivera
and A-Rod all stand and they cheer ya.
'Cause that catch lives in our dreams.
(instrumental break)
And oh, who are you? Just an injury substitute.
But your Web Gem might win the first prize.
Melky Cabrera!
Made up for last month's error!
They'll play that catch now forever
'cause it's smooth, so fresh and clean!
(Beat the Sox! Beat the Sox!)
