| Original Song Title: | "(Is this the way to) Amarillo" |
| Original Performer: | Tony Christie |
| Parody Song Title: | "(Another Blunkett) Peccadillo" |
| Parody Written by: | Phil Alexander |
David Blunkett is probably the most accident-prone Labour MP in the current parliament: (there's a profile here, if you don't know who I'm talking about)... everybody who knows him seems to like him, especially his mistress(es), but he does seem to have a rather loose understanding of ministerial responsibility..
Blah, blah blah, blah, blah, blah Blunkett (Who he?)
Blah, blah blah, blah, blah, blah Blunkett (MP!)
Blah, blah blah, blah, blah, blah Blunkett (I see!)
He used to be Home Secret'ry
When I wake up yawning
Read the paper Sunday morning
What d'you think I see there
'Bout the ex-Home Secretary there?
From the banner headlines
To page 94
Though he ain't the only
Minister to score
Another Blunkett peccadillo
Guess who has been sharing his pillow
Teeny-tiny peccadillo
Will he resign? Just wait and see...
Blah, blah blah, blah, blah, blah Blunkett (Re-sign!)
Blah, blah blah, blah, blah, blah Blunkett (Re-sign!)
Blah, blah blah, blah, blah, blah Blunkett (Re-sign!)
Will he resign? Just wait and see...
Well, who'd have thunk it?
'Bout a bearded David Blunkett:
Thought that he could please a
Nanny with a fast-track visa
At the same time testing
Baby's DNA
Is it interesting
To the CSA?
Another Blunkett peccadillo
So will he go? This time he will-o
Rather naughty peccadillo
Will he return? Just wait and see
Blah, blah blah, blah, blah, blah Blunkett (He's back!)
Blah, blah blah, blah, blah, blah Blunkett (He's back?)
Blah, blah blah, blah, blah, blah Blunkett (He's back!)
Will he return? Just wait and see...
But as we all expected
That Blair was re-elected
And thought he'd mention
The new chap at Work and Pensions
Rehabilitated
Until another row
Held shares unstated
What's he up to now?
It's yet another peccadillo
Covered up with minimal skill-o
Will taxpayers foot the bill-o
For his large severance fee?
Bye bye, bye, bye-bye B-lunkett (Bye bye!)
Bye bye, bye, bye-bye B-lunkett (Bye bye!)
Bye bye, bye, bye-bye B-lunkett (Bye bye!)
Will he return? Just wait and see...

nice bit o' bashin' ...5s
I liked it.
Another fine piece of work there phil, but i have one question whats a peccadillo? everything else i thought was funny.
I think you really need to know Blunkett to appreciate this one Phil, but 5s for the peccadillo/skillo/billo
Alex - from dictionary.com:
peccadillo
n : a petty misdeed
Stuart - yes, you probably do (I guess not many people followed the link to the profile at the top.. but seeing as his resignation was the main news story last night and on the front page of all the papers this morning, I might have expected a little more interest ;-) )
Thanks, guys :-)

Terrific! Downside is, I'll have this damned tune in my head till I go to bed...
Very well done, Phil, particularly the "thunk it/Blunkett" and the "Teeny-tiny peccadillo" lines.
As an avid fan of ministerial peccadiloes, I loved this, Phil. I think you may have overestimated overseas interest in Dave's farragoes, and familiarity with the OS outside the UK...but, hey: I enjoyed it. 555
Henry - if it's only until you go to bed, then you've got off lightly
JJ - :-)
Kristof - who said anything about overseas interest? There must be a fair handful of Brits turning up here, and unless they've spent the last year and a bit in Oz, they can't have missed hearing the OS.. but maybe they've OD'd on DB already.

Love it!
