| Parody Song Title: | "Taj Mahal Tundoori" |
| Parody Written by: | Phil Alexander |
On a dark crowded High Street
After the pubs had shut
Ten pints of lager
Swilling round in my gut
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a tacky neon light
My stomach rumbled and my mouth went dry
I had to stop for a bite
There she stood in the doorway
There was a familiar smell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be heaven, or this could be hell
I asked for a table
And she showed me the way
There were voices in the corridor
Thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Taj Mahal Tundoori
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely taste
Plenty of room at the Taj Mahal Tundoori
After lots of beer
You will find me here
I ordered onion bhaji
And a sag aloo
And lots of extra curry in my
Chicken vindaloo
It was hot as a furnace
Boy, it made me sweat
Did I manage to eat it all
Well I forget
So I called to the waitress
I said Bring me my wine
She said Would you prefer the Piat D'or
Or the Liebfraumilch '99
And still those voices are calling
>From far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say
Welcome to the Taj Mahal Tundoori
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely taste
Plenty of room at the Taj Mahal Tundoori
What a nice surprise
In your pilau rice
Water in the cola
The cheap lager on ice
Though we've got some Pilsener here
If you'll pay the price
Upstairs in the function room
They have their Christmas bash
And when the bill arrives
They just can't find the cash
Last thing I remember
I was running for the loo
An inevitable consequence
Of a chicken vindaloo
'Relax' said a bad man
'I only went in there to heave
But once you sit upon that toilet seat
You can never leave'
After the pubs had shut
Ten pints of lager
Swilling round in my gut
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a tacky neon light
My stomach rumbled and my mouth went dry
I had to stop for a bite

This is good. I am a huge Eagles fan and I like Indian food...Great to see a great song such as Hotel California put to such great use
Thanks, Lilli - it also is in the unique position of being (I think) the first song I submitted to amiright: I wrote it many years ago, and has been pretty well received whenever I've played it.
Hey Phil,I read this a few days ago,and coulda swore I threw some 5's your way! Anway, nice job-it's very good. :-D
This, like rice and watt's parody, is pretty full of words that mean very little to me. Fortunately for you, i don't need to know exactly what vindaloo is to appreciate this
Phil, you wrote this parody in a style that particularly appeals to me - you used a lot of the original song's words, and you kept many lines very close to those of the original song - this is something I love to do in my own parodies, because it forces the original song to make fun of itself! 5-5-5
Not bad. I Probably would have liked it better if i liked the song and knew what the Taj Mahal Tundoori was.
Great job, Phil! 5's!
This one got me laughing right at the end, even though I'm not known for an eclectic palate or for that matter an eclectic anything.
Great!
Yeah, I'm like MysteryGoat - no clue what the Taj Mahal Tundoori is, other than obviously an Indian restaurant/bar somewhere.
pretty good, phil
The "Taj Majal Tundoori" isn't a real place, it's sort of the embodiment of all those Indian restaurants which you visit after drinking to excess down the pub... a bit like "Hotel California", I suppose.
For some reason, the "pilau rice" line always seems to get the biggest laugh...

It was just okay for me. I liked it, but I like a lot of your other songs better.
This was good and quite funny at times, but my views are quite different than Johnny on the matter of pacing and lyrics. You leave too many original lines in for my tastes. This is a matter of opinion, though, so it won't have any bearing on pacing. After all, if you leave the original line in, the pacing is spot on no matter what. G/J overall.
I hate Curry! But you did a great parody about the discusting stuff!=)
I took the liberty of singing this in my head like Apu from the Simpsons; it made it even funnier.
have to admit Hotel California is one of my all time favourite songs .. and this one gets my vote! very funny good rhymes love the aloo/vindaloo..
i had tundoori chicken at my professor's house on wednesday and then ran 2 miles back to school soon afterwards i don't think that was a good combination for my digestive system
好!NOT BAD
