The Lyrics

This is the whole problem with our electoral system here in the US. An election shouldn't come down to a single state, especially a state as drastically divided as Ohio.
Dubya Bush met Kerry and they fought for the Whitehouse seat
John Kerry had 50
Dubya said he'd 51
So Dubya said "Joe Public, I'm gonna make my big attack-
I'm gonna have to leave my knife in your back."
(Shrub all over again...)

Why will he cheat and lie
And cause many needlessly to die
Don't you know it is wrong, he'll cheat the average man
Don't you know it is wrong, nothing to salvage, man
Too late to flip-flop: You chose it wrong, Ohio.

He'll draft you, ship you off
For such a pointless cause
Don't you know it is wrong, if you're a poorer man
Don't you know it is wrong, nothing is surer, man
Like flies we'll drop: You chose it wrong, Ohio

Economy is shot
But the rich will come out on top
Don't you know it is wrong, you'll have no money man
Don't you know it is wrong, it isn't funny, man
Stock market drop: You chose it wrong, Ohio

Now we're stuck with George Dubya again
All over again
Don't you know it is wrong, too late to make a change
Don't you know it is wrong, too late to make a change
You would find: it would be right, Ohio

But instead you chose for us all
And caused us to be shocked and appalled
Don't you know it is wrong, he'll cheat the trying man
Don't you know it is wrong, he'll cheat the trying man
Can't make him stop: You chose it wrong, Ohio

The electoral college is indeed a sham...

...unless a Democrat gets elected, right, MrMacphisto?
MrMacphisto - November 07, 2004 - Report this comment
Nope... it was just as much a sham in '92 as it is now... It's been a sham since the infamous election of 1876 when Rutherford Hayes basically bought the election. What Bush did in 2000 was nothing but a repeat of good ole American electoral corruption. If you want true democracy, then you should want the abolition of the electoral college and the institution of instant run-off voting. We have plutocracy, not democracy...

A pluocracy, or an oligarchy...

Charlie, the election doesn't come down to one state---all the states count, and the count went to Bush.
Charlie Decker - November 08, 2004 - Report this comment
Don't get me wrong, I admit Bush won fair and square this time. However, I just think that it is silly that a candidate only has to pool his resources into maybe 15 states at the most out of 50. Oh, and just try and tell me we don't live in an oligarchy.
