Eric ‘Slowhand’ Clapton in the early 70’s at the height of his drink/drugs problem
I would love to tour with Slowhand
He’s unwavering with the blow
Yes, I’d love to tour with Slowhand
He’s unravelling at the show
Though he’s tryin’ on the guitar…he’s takin’ flak
Downed another record: he’s…usin’ smack
Is this his last endeavour
No, there’s a long time to go…oh yeah…hey, hey
I have never played a stadium
With the man when in his prime
I have never played a stadium
I can’t find another rhyme, no I can’t
Now he needs to shine…upon that stage
His status he is losin’…to Jimmy Page
Is this his last endeavour
No, there’s a long time to go…oh yeah
His notes were all in flat form
He’d tried to play the blues
We said “You just ain’t smokin’, son”
“Now jus’ lay off that booze”
“Now jus’ stay off them brews”
Well, I’ve seen him wreck a TV…like Status Quo
The way, he should be changin’ coz he…broke his toe
Is this his last endeavour
No, there’s a long time to go…oh yeah
Oh yeah…hey, hey
He’s unwavering with the blow
Yes, I’d love to tour with Slowhand
He’s unravelling at the show
Though he’s tryin’ on the guitar…he’s takin’ flak

Nice stuff! I remember that copter crash that killed Vaughn and several others in his band in the 90's... then of course his son falling 50 something stories off a balcony...amazing he dealt so well considering those boatloads of personal tragedy and his propensities...
OH Man, Andy!! Another absolutely classic song to, (what a great idea), profile another classic rocker. 555 days in AA
DKTOS well enough to comment on pacing, but second TJC's thoughts. The musical world is fortunate that he rallied back.
Are there *any* rock stars without a substantial substance issue? .... Also DKTOS, but quite descriptive and well-crafted. 5 drinks, 5 snorts, and 5 'ludes.
Fine tribute
Thanks TJC, Mark, Fiddle, TT & AFW
