The Lyrics

A while ago I read “The Family,” by Jeff Sharlet, who researched and lived among the malignant movement known as The Fellowship, or The Family. In a presumably unintentional twist of irony, Doug Coe, the Family’s current Führer, has professed admiration for the Mafia, a.k.a. The Family, as well as Hitler, Mao, Stalin, and Ho Chi Minh. The Fellowship was started by Norwegian immigrant Abraham Vereide, a Eurofascism sympathizer. Since then, the movement has metastasized to include some of the scariest members of Congress—e.g., Jim Demint, Tom Coburn, and John Ensign. Also, Ensign's fellow philanderer Mark Sanford, gov. of South Carolina, has had Family connections. It’s not just paleoconservative crooks either—The Family also has its hooks in Hillary Clinton, for example. One of the many Family con jobs is a mansion on C Street in D.C. in which Ensign and other members have lived at way-below market rates. The group, whose political influence is pervasive and deep, has been able to get this building classified as a "church." So even though most of this is old news now, I decided to post it.
We are Family,
An infernal fraternity.
We are Family,
Fake homage to the King of Kings.

We all meet in secret together—
Praising the Big Guy (High!).
But we’re all tied; to our Bund we’re tethered,
But we’re kind of shy.
It isn’t exactly that we are gay,
But we’re really close.
We like to work off the record,
We got our club; it’s The Family—Coe’s
Chief of Family,
An infernal fraternity.
We are Family;
We really think Hitler was King.

We are Family,
An infernal fraternity.
We are Family;
We really think Stalin was King.

Stiffin’ wives is fun, and we’ve just begun
To get our share of our girls’ delights.
Dies, dies Coe, and what is the future?
Find a Coe-like blight.
We, we don’t like the press
When they expose our “golden rule”:
Have faith in what we tell you to do
Although we’re wrong. . .
Some rulers, Family-schooled.

We are Family,
An infernal fraternity.
We are Family;
We really think Mao was King. . .
