Parody Song Title:

"Galileo's Rhapsody"

Parody Written by:

Steve Kalafut

A tribute to the Italian astronomer whose name appears in the original. Considering his troubles with the chuch, parts of the original didn't need much changing. Mikolaj Kopernik (Mee-ko-why Ko-pair-neek) is the Polish name of another famous astromoner.
Is earth the center
Of the known universe?
Church will not let us
Have opinions which are diverse
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm an observer, I use astronomy
And then I drop two balls from the tower
One weighs less, one weighs more
If indeed the Earth moves, will God show the answer to me?
To me

Who was Copernicus?
Is there truth to what he said?
Published after he was dead
Skywatch, I have just begun
But now I think we move around the Sun
People oooo
Didn't mean to cause a stir
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing even happened

Too late, the priests have come
Send shivers down my spine
Could be in for quite a time
Goodbye everybody, I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the church
Daughter ooo- (any way the earth moves)
I don't want to die
I only wish I had been a better dad

I see that Jupiter has four moons of his own
You blaspheme! You blaspheme! You will do a great penance
Venus has her phases, she has phases like the Moon
Galileo Galileo
Galileo Galileo
Galileo, you blaspheme, hereticaaaal
But I'm an observer, just tell what I see
Your daughter lives in a convent nunnery
Spare us from hearing your wicked heresy
Please Signor Nuncio, will you let me go?
In God's name! no, we will not let you go (let him go)
In God's name! we will not let you go (let him go)
In God's name! we will not let you go (let me go)
Will not let you go (let me go)
Will not let you go (let me go)
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Please have mercy, please have mercy, please have mercy, let me go
The sentence will be house arrest for life for me, for me, for me

So you think you can stop me from using my eyes
Yet you can't stop Copernicus after he dies
No never, you can't silence me ever
Truth gonna get out, truth gonna go all out, you'll see

Mikolaj Kopernik
Galileo's plight
Now we know in hindsight
Now we know that those two were right.

And we know the Earth moves

Cosmic! Steve, great job, and I love how you worked it around BoRap's "Galileo" and "Open your eyes, Look up to the skies and see".
