Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

He's paid his dues
Time after time.
He's been condemned,
Though he committed no crime.
They say he's crazy,
That he hates Jews.
He did a movie about a man
Nailed to a cross
And the sales came through!
And the movie runs on and on and on and on....

Mel is the champion, my friend,
And he'll keep producing till the end.
Mel is the champion,
Mel is the champion,
Three cheers for "The Passion"
'Cause Mel is the champion of Hollywood!

He's taken some barbs
And verbal abuse,
He took his fame and and fortune
And did something good with it
In spite of the boos.
But it's been no bed of roses, he's no Tom Cruise,
He presented a challenge to the whole human race
And to Hollywood too!
And the fans keep on and on and on and on

Mel is the champion, my friend,
And he'll keep producing till the end.
Mel is the champion,
Mel is the champion,
Three cheers for "The Passion"
'Cause Mel is the champion of Hollywood!

Mel is the champion, my friend,
And he'll keep producing till the end.
Mel is the champion,
Mel is the champion,
Three cheers for "The Passion"
'Cause Mel is the champion!

This movie was one of the best movies I had ever seen...it made me cringe, it made me think, and it was really touching in ways I cannot describe. Mel Gibson and his cast and crew deserve a lot of credit for seeing it through; the risk was worth it. Good parody.

nice "passion' in this one....5s

His next effort will have to measure up to this. A movie version of Wagner's "Ring" cycle perhaps?

I heard on the radio he plans to do a sequel called (what else?) The Resurrection.-- MM

I haven't seen the movie yet, but the parody seems to do an excellent job of capturing Gibson's passionate commitment to sharing his faith.

Please, Grace, after five Rockys (boxing ring) and three Tolkeins, we don't need another "ring cycle." And since Mel went with the suffering instead of the triumph, the sequel is far more likely to be the Revelation. He'd then be working with some really lethal weapons, and I understand Kirk Cameron is looking for work. Unless Mel wants to jump ahead only 40 years and do a remake of "Masada."

You get 555 solely on the basis of the line "...he's no Tom Cruise" !!

Excellent Michael!

Nice job. Yeah, the Tom Cruise line is nice irony.
Phil Alexander - March 17, 2004 - Report this comment
WHS. But surely he can't do "The Resurrection"... he'd be crucified ;-)

555, although I didn't personally find it all that funny. But why should I bring down your score on this, when everyone else gives high praise? I do praise the pacing and cleverness, especially "Tom Cruise". I guess I really don't like parodies that overtly praise an real-life individual without very little or no irony ("Here's Johnny" by Weird Al or "Rock Me Jerry Lewis" by Elliott & Latour come to mind).

(Queen) Yeah, good pacing but assuming you're being sincere, I rather disagree.

(Queen Contest) I haven't heard the song in ages, but even if I knew it by heart I haven't seen PotC nor really payed much attention to the hype/controversy surrounding it. Sorry MM.
