April fourteenth, eight-een sixty-five
Actor moving across the stage
Suddenly a gun looms into sight
And for Abe, life turns shitty
Booth’s some-what irate, cause: confed-erate
Move Abey! Get out the way (leave the play)
Wilkesy’s here to assassinate (run away)
As ‘American Cousin’ plays...
Loon appears, assigned, tonight and sly
And is helped by some other guys
To blunder now would stay your hour malign enshrined
At Ford’s Theatre, the end’s consigned
Booth don't hesitate, cocks his gun, shoots straight
Move Abey! Get out the way (move away!)
Loaded Derringer’s aimed your way
John’ll be not contrite today
Booth’s got all irate 'cus of Rights of State
“Sic Semper Tyrannis” glint in eyes
Man in Grey wants Blues aside
“South’s avenged” at point of Johnny’s gun
Wound nationhood by one bout of treason
Booth’s cog-nitive state, is what sealed your fate
Oooh Abey! You’ve had your day (went away)
Now conspirators run away
Barn’ll be with alighted hay
Oh Boothy you’d come to slay (and betray)
Gonna deal with you right away
Gonna be on rope tight and sway

What, too soon?
I hate this OS, but this is a funny take on Lincoln.
i hate the OS too, but this a beaut...big fan of assassination ditties
I echo McKludge's comment.
Funny take on a part of American history !
I enjoyed this US history read! Very cleverly assembled. Also, it 's good to see Peter Frampton at my right, here! Brings back crazy memories . . .
Thanks all! We considered putting "Push Mary Todd in the way", but thought that was bad taste, even for us, ha ha.
Very inventive way of recreating this event...
Great "play" on words here, not to mention the sudden death ending. Best use of "Sic Semper Tyrannis" I've seen to date in a parody.
