The Lyrics

Have you ever rooted for a football team that appeared to have a legitimate hope for a league championship, and then saw that hope disintegrate in the first half of the first game? At 4:00 PM on September 7, 2009, Rutgers took the field against the University of Cincinnati, defending Big East Conference Champions, at a Rutgers Stadium newly expanded to 52,454 seats, and it was full, and we were thinking this first game of the season might decide the Big East title. By 5:15, it was 38-7 Cincy, and the Scarlet Knights walked off the field for halftime, and got booed off the field by 52,000 people. They got booed off the field at the half. And they deserved it. The final was 47-15, and having seen the whole debacle, I can tell you it wasn't that close.
(instrumental opening)

Stuck inside these four stands.
Trapped here for four hours.
Never seeing no one
nice again
like you
Ray Rice
you
Ray Rice
you.

If we ever get out of here
where the team gave it all away
all that traffic is preferable.
Our team was a bust today.
So we gotta get out of here.
Yeah, we gotta get out of here.

Well, our hopes exploded with a mighty crash
and our team is full of bums.
And the first fan said to the second one there
"We won't have any fun!"

Booed off the field.
Booed off the field.
And they failed the fans
and their demands.
It cannot be concealed.

They were
booed off the field.
Booed off the field.
Booed off the field.
Booed off the field.

Well, Coach Greg Schiano drew a heavy sigh
saying, "No one did his job."
And the bell is ringing down there at Olde Queens
for the fans, they're feeling robbed!

Booed off the field.
Booed off the field.
And they failed the fans
and their demands.
It cannot be concealed.

They were
booed off the field.
Booed off the field.

(instrumental break)

Yeah, they're
booed off the field.
Booed off the field.
Booed off the field.
Booed off the field.

Well, the Knights are falling as the Rutgers fans
have watched their team go down.
In the town, they're drinking to oblivion.
Glory never will be found!

Booed off the field.
Booed off the field.
And the Jersey team
they just got creamed
and will forevermore.

They were
booed off the field.
Booed off the field.
Booed off the field.
Booed off the field.
Yes, Cincinnati has a very good team. At this point in Rutgers' development, that should no longer be an excuse. I've seen them lose to Syracuse 52-3, Virginia Tech 70-14, and West Virginia 80-7. But that was when we expected to get slaughtered. In the Schiano Era, we expect to be able to play with anybody, have beaten teams ranked Number 2 and Number 3 in the nation, and should no longer be intimidated by anyone. Considering how much talent we were supposed to have, this was the worst loss in Rutgers history. It would have had to be kicked up a notch just to be considered a disgrace.

Good parody. I know and understand...I've seen Kentucky's basketball team lose to such powerhouses as VMI, Bowling Green of Ohio, and mighty Lindsey Wilson College. (Not that I wouldn't have minded having money on those games...lol)
