Original Song Title:

"Live and Let Die"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Paul McCartney

Parody Song Title:

"Harry Will Die"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

I'm gonna face a few lightning bolts (and handbags) from Arwen and a few others for this, but I don't care. I'll just deflect 'em with my lightsaber.
When you were young
and you read that first Rowling book
you used to say, "Harry will live."

You know you did.
You know you did.
You know you did.

But in that ever-changing world in which he lives in
maybe that will not fly.

'Cause Harry will die!

Harry will die!

Harry will die!

Harry will die!

(instrumental break)

Ron will live, and Hermoine
but Harry's got a job to do
and I must report:
Sacrifice to stop Lord Voldemort!

(instrumental break)

You used to say, "Harry will live."

You know you did.
You know you did.
You know you did.

But in that ever-changing world in which he lives in
maybe that will not fly.

'Cause Harry will die!

Harry will die!

Harry will die!

Harry will die!

(instrumental break)
And if I turn out to be wrong, and he's still alive at the end of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"... well, I'm sure someone will think of a fitting punishment.

No way, man. Harry's gonna live. If he dies, there'll be mass hysteria & bedlam. I mean, what do you think would have happene if Luke Skywalker died in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi?

I'll tell you what might have happened, Dylan. We might have been spared Episodes 1 through 3. :-)
It's not much of an OS to work with, but geez, are there that many Potter lovers out there giving spite-ones? 555 from me to keep balance.

I liked it. One of the purposes of satire and parody is making people mad. Harry won't die - he will retire. Maybe he will get married, move to a 1950's war box and use his magic at city council meetings.

Hate Harry enjoy this
Agrimorfee - June 25, 2007 - Report this comment
No he won't. But Dumbledore will. A little simplistic for a writer of your calibre (of course, there's not much you can do with this OS), but 555 just for trying to raise HP-fans' ire.

Still no word from Arwen, author of the classic "Think I've Got a Crush on Harry Potter."

Sorry for the late visit, Mr. Pacholek...but the title alone made me cry all weekend...=( He'd better not. I don't think he will. What if he does? Oh man...here come the tears again...

I agree with Agrimorfee's assessment of the original song. There is not much for a parodist to work with, and it has that annoying phrase "in which we live in," for which the second "in" is unnecessary both grammatically and musically. But this was otherwise a decent parody and I agree with Mr. Pacholek's prediction about the young protagonist.
