Song Parodies -> Liking Novocain
| Original Song Title: | "Like a Hurricane" |
| Original Performer: | Neil Young |
| Parody Song Title: | "Liking Novocain" |
| Parody Written by: | Jim Rotondo |
Once I saw my dentist for a gnarly root canal,
The pain was piercing, language mighty foul.
Then approached this needle, that’s supposed to ease the pain,
It trickled down my throat, then froze my brain.
I am liking Novocain,
Needles pinching gums.
And I’m getting really numb
This awful flavor really grinds my gears
Then pain subsides and I express my garbled cheers.
I am just a patient, and you are DDS,
Suicide was just a fad I guess.
Before those pliers could pull my tooth
With Popeye forearms just like Babe Ruth
Extracting my crown, pulp and rotten root.
I am liking Novocain,
There’s blood in my eye.
And I sure can’t feel a thing
I’m drooling buckets down my brand new shirt,
But thanks to you I now can live without the hurt.
You are just a dentist, and I am just a nerd,
Insurance pays up cause you’re well Preferred.
Before your helper could rinse my mouth
She rubs against me, my eyes go south
Consolation from this once Girl Scout.
I am liking Novocain,
Can’t talk, laugh or smile.
And now, see me driving home
To come on down from this tooth-frozen state,
Maybe tomorrow I’ll eat food that’s on my plate.
The pain was piercing, language mighty foul.
Then approached this needle, that’s supposed to ease the pain,
It trickled down my throat, then froze my brain.

OOOOOWWWWW! This hits close to home, as I'm due for a dentist visit.
Extracting sets of #5 molars...
I guess you're not an anti-Dentite.
the imagery of a dentist with popeye arms is gonna stick with me a while...lol
http://www.handmadewebsites.com/peralta/jim-whatley.jpg -- Thanks guys, McKludge, you just jarred my memory, I had my pic taken with Seinfeld's dentist Whately 2 years ago (see link) before a Philly radio show....Bryan Cranston, also the dad in Malcolm in the Middle....he actually only did 8 Seinfelds...
Sounded like a pretty pleasant dental visit compared to a few I've been through - 555!!!
I really sank my teeth into this, especially the verse about the Girl Scout.
I like *anything* that ends in "...cain": Novocaine, Benzocaine, Xylocaine (Lidocaine), Septocaine (Articaine), Co...." ....yep, they're all in the same family.... isn't science fun? 555
fun fact: Sigmund Freud would be in the medical history books for his discovery that cocaine could be used for local anaesthesia for eye surgery, even if he hadn't invented psycho-analysis. (no extra charge for the FF!)

TT, you overlooked Kwaichangcaine
great OS from NY's "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" album (which is in my Facebook Favourite 5 albums list) and the first parody I've seen to it Jim - well done - and I loved "Before your helper could rinse my mouth - She rubs against me, my eyes go south" - trips to the dentist do have some delights - 555

Great job Jim, and TT, you overlooked cocaine. Although it is commonly regarded as illegal, it is actually legal when prescribed by a physician, and is legally used as an anesthetic like its other -caine or -cain cousins. Here is a $555-off coupon for any dental operation by Dr. Andria.
Stuart McArthur, good catch, Grasshopper. Not to mention the Mutinyo'Caine, and CitizenoKane.
Andria, bad miss, Miss. TT said, "...anything* that ends in "...cain": ... Co...." .....Get it: now? Co....cain". Sorry to have flown under your radar -- it must be habit, from flying AirForceOne so low. Cheers.

Vat, Andria, you did not look at Herr Turtle's secund statement von mein Experiment mit der Kokaine? I tink I go to odder dentist, danke.
Thanks everybody, especially for the bonus information, but we forgot British actor Michael Caine! BTW, this song was on Neil's 1977 American Stars N' Bars album, written in '75 after a cocaine-fueled night.
whoops, of course it was - I always muddle "Like A Hurricane" and "Cowgirl In The Sand" up - same mood and structure
What am I, a retired p*rn star, or chopped liver?
