Parody Song Title:

"Westerns"

Parody Written by:

why do i view these stupid westerns...i'd be wiser to ignore
i've seen a thousand million westerns...they show hate and death galore
the stage is stopped and then surrounded...by a red skinned savage breed
that are tired of persecution...from the white man's growin' greed
why should they ever leave their lands here...with newcomers wagin' war ?
because there's ruthless things to follow...because the white man wanted more

its so unfair...how they play it...they make injuns look so mean
and folks are swayed and believe it...but that ain't real history
so let us stop and think about it...the myths just don't ring true
that's just the bull you've been given...cause they mean to addle you

i'm lookin' through accounts of western life
i'm lookin' for an actual slice of life
cause if i could see...how it used to be
to see the red man's view...of what they had gone through

between the violence that was mountin'...and the clashin' still to be
they lost the land that they once lived in...as they slaughtered them, you see
and in the chaos of the warrin'..the innocent would lose
indeed the death count kept a-creepin'...its a road they did not choose

i'm lookin' through accounts of western life
i'm lookin' for an actual slice of life
cause if i could see...how it used to be
to see the red man's view...of what they had gone through
the story that is told...denies the red man's soul

its so unfair...how they play it...they make injuns look so mean
and folks are swayed and believe it...but that ain't real history

why do i view these stupid westerns...i'd be wiser to ignore
i've seen a thousand million westerns...they show hate and death galore
the stage is stopped and then surrounded...by a red skinned savage breed
that are tired of persecution...from the white man's growin' greed

why do i view these stupid westerns...i'd be wiser to ignore

Very nice... reminds me a lot of the similarly themed golden oldie "Cherokee Nation" by Paul Revere and the Raiders!

Now I remember why there are no more westerns on TV.

I always liked the old westerns, the great ones, of course...Like, "High Noon" or, "Once Upon A Time In The West"..."Stagecoach", etc....but on the hand, you've whipped up a real good spoof, here..

I'm fond of the old westerns too (probably nostalgically), but of course you have a point alvin, which was partially addressed by "Dances With Wolves" and "Unforgiven" - but too little too late - 555

I haven't watched many westerns, but I see the point here. 5s across, not for "how funny", but for "how well-written and thought-provoking."

Westerns...UGH! About the only one I REALLY liked was "Maverick"...and that wasn't really your regular-run-of-the-prairie-Western, was it? Say...anybody remember the "Twilight Zone" episode with "Lance LaRue"? (I think)...he's a TV actor in a Western and ALWAYS beats the bad guys...particularly the "Injuns"...I believe he had some kind of "near death" experience that lands him in the hands of a deceased Indian as a sort of "Guardian Angel" or something...well, this "Angel" had sort of had it with the Indians always coming out on the short end of the stick in Lance's show, so he mkaes Lance "adjust" his character to be more in line with reality...it was cool...5's ~ ~ ~
