I remember this one by Melanie, and probably the New Seekers. While searching for a viable set of lyrics I found that Claudine Longet and Ray Charles(!) also performed it. So I guess the tune is flexible enough to absorb my interpretation as well.

AFW- You were first to comment on my first posting back in 2007. Glad you like this one. Seems to be an obvious choice to parody after writing 60 or so desecrations.
