The Lyrics

I remember this one by Melanie, and probably the New Seekers. While searching for a viable set of lyrics I found that Claudine Longet and Ray Charles(!) also performed it. So I guess the tune is flexible enough to absorb my interpretation as well.
Look what I've done to their songs, moi
Look what I've done to their songs
A stolen melody and some words I write
If I sold them for a song, moi
Won't make too much from my songs

Look what's emerged from my brain, wow!
Some times it can be a strain
Then I post them here for all to see
With nary a thought of gain, how?
Ain't made a dime from my songs

My songs could fill a small book
Who'd read it?
Might put them all in a book
If I could print me up a little book
Would anybody take a good look at
What I've done to these songs

J'ai dérangé leurs chansons, moi
J'ai détraqué leurs chansons
Les auteurs disent "Sacré bleu!"
Et ils m'appellent "cochon", moi!
Car j'ai volé leurs chansons

Folks say I'm not quite all right, yeah!
My politics are a fright
But if everyone believed like me
't would be a marvelous sight
Heed what I say in my songs

Look what I've done to their songs, moi
Just having fun with their songs
I like to dredge up tunes from my memory
Though I get the pacing wrong, Tom
My, my, look at what I've done
With clones and cars and guns
Just having fun with their songs

AFW- You were first to comment on my first posting back in 2007. Glad you like this one. Seems to be an obvious choice to parody after writing 60 or so desecrations.

And no one chose to comment on the well-deserved shoTT .... good one! Rest assured it was received, and well so.
