O.K., I suppose you are wondering why I would trash such a beautiful song. Well, I wanted to write a parody about soap operas and the logical choice was "What a Wonderful 'World' " - get it?Some people work full time and watch all the soaps afterwards. I don't see how they find the time. Anyway, here's a nicer version of this parody.
I come home from work, turn on the TV -
My VCR's taped my soaps for me.
So, don't bother me. I'm watching my soaps.
The doors are locked, my 'phone's off the hook.
Don't have time to talk or read a book.
For the next 10 hours I'm watching my soaps.
I see couples in love, having fights and making up-
On one show there's a wedding while a building's blowing up!
Another has a hunk and babe stranded in Zaire-
And serial killers are everywhere!
All that steamy romance sweeps me away-
Miracles happen. People get their own way.
And I think to myself, why can't this be my world?
I wish life could be a soap opera world!

i don't watch soaps, but i DO watch "real world".....take some 5s
Good one, all 5s!!! As a fellow Aussie I only watch the Aussie soap "Neighbours". And I watch the 70s Aussie soaps like "The Box" and "Number 96" which I've gotten from collectors and they kick arse cos they have naked chicks and down to earth humour and realism. But those stupid yuppy soaps like Days Of Our Drearies, The Old & The Ugly and The Young & The Reckless suck plumbers crack because they are so bloody serious cos the people are usually miserable as crap and dress in yuppy Emmy Awards clobber (i.e. tuxedos and fancy dresses) and they are in really drab dimly lit rooms most of the time and these soaps have been known to give old people heart attacks cos the nursing home TVs are tuned to the stations containing these soaps. Fair dinkum, everytime I've seen those soaps when my mum's mates are watching them the people are what I described above, a bunch of misery guts!!! Thank god Neighbours ain't like that!!! Anyways great parody!!!
