Song Parodies -> "Ban Those Voting Less Than Two"

Original Song Title:

"Breaking Up Is Hard To Do"

Original Performer:

Lenny Welch

Parody Song Title:

"Ban Those Voting Less Than Two"

Parody Written by:

Tim Mayfield

The Lyrics

You tell me that you're honest
I can't believe it's true
Honest won't be voting less than two

Please keep your ones away from me
Don't hurt my pride, leave me be
If up to me, what I would do
Ban those voting less than two

I'll never win on Amiright
Cause I've missed what puns delight
Now state your name 'cause what I'd do
Is ban those voting less than two

They say that rating high is up to you
But, now I know, I know it's untrue
Don't say, don't say it's my stuff
Instead of voting ones I wish that you had finally had enough

Not asking you to give me fives
Can you try to stop making me cry
Oh, come on critic let's start anew
And ban those voting less than two (votes less than two)
Ban those votes (ban those votes) those voting less than two
(Ban those voting less than two)
Don't vote me fives
(ban those votes) (ban those votes)
(Ban those voting less than two)

Don't vote me fives
(Ban those voting less than two)
My critic
(ban those votes) (ban those votes)
(Ban those voting less than two)

You know, some songs just really *deserve* getting one'd. But this one wasn't one of them.

Tim, I concur, in large part...there is NO excuse for giving someone a "1" in pace if they truly followed that area of the OS...and I think it's really lame to do so..."Funny" of course, is subjective, so I suppose a "1" COULD be a legitimate score there, although I wouldn't want to be the "One" doing that to folks on any sort of regular basis...I might have scored someone a "1" in "Funny" perhaps a handful of times or less in my 1 year plus on this site...it had to have been something that was just really poorly done AND probably something that had a really bigoted or ugly story-theme to it. Now "OVERALL" - well, unless the pace was REALLY poor, the story-line ugly, bigoted or both and there were no redeeming qualities to it I can't see scoring a piece "1" there, either...Anyway, as I said on your other "Low-Scoring" themed piece today it's generally just someone who either has some weird axe to grind or bias for whatever reason and is too weak linguistically to express their opinions or feelings in writing...I might get hit a bit for saying that, but I'm sure not going to let some mental midget intimidate or limit what I want to say over a silly little number. If someone thinks so little of your talent and effort to give it that score they ought to at least tell you "why"...if they have any class, that is...

Paul, thanks for the response. I think everyone knows that being 1'd shouldn't be a surprise to them. What is a surprise to me is that someone will vote all 1's when EVERYBODY ELSE votes 5's. If everybody votes 1's and 2's, then you should evaluate your work, if most folks vote 4's and 5's, you're doing a good job. The ones guy is just an easy bloke to poke a joke at.

In reference to what Paul said, I've got to agree with his reasons for voting ones. I've only done it if a song really offended me badly, or if the author just was not talented in songwriting. Which brings me to the subject I have had on my mind for a while. Most people who post songs on this website are extremely talented. However, without mentioning any names (I don't want to hurt any feelings), there are about 3 or 4 people who've been posting, whose songs just don't make any sense, whether it be lyrical content, grammar, or whatever. I often wonder if these people are children, or maybe "developmentally challenged", mentally, or maybe even from another country. If they are from a non-English speaking country, I can certainly understand their songs maybe not making too much sense, if their English isn't fluent. BUT....if this is not the case, I wonder why some people bother to post when they know what they write is totally absurd and/or makes no sense whatsoever. They will get hit with ones, for sure, and maybe it's better not to post than to post and get a bad score.

Fives, four just for remembering A) Lenny Welch did a slow version of this song and B) doing his instead of Neil Sedaka's original -- or his far lesser slow version from '76.
