~intro~
Spent my day jus' a lookin' online
Too much junk. I thank ... Christmas time...
Greed in their eyes - green's the new red
Growin' Too Commercial and it's makin' ... Christmas dead
Someone told me that the meaning's still there:
iPods and iPhones but where is ... the iCare...?
Too much PC in the season craze
All they ever tell you's "Happy Hol.... idays.."
Oh, the toys have lead and they're sweatshop made
Wonder when consumers - will question for what they've paid.....
The countdowns and the discounts and Black Friday's insane
Some children having none, again... can explain
Watch out!
Season of cash - common God
That they trust - good as gold
Now it's started. You're sold!
Most blinkered, slightly thinking.
Show me a time
When all people can shine
And greet you and care
Share their laughs
Without... a dime...
How nice to be with all your friends
And love's displayed regard-less what... is spent... fa la la la
My, it's quite rare after Christmas has gone
Try to find the reason it isn't the next three-sixty-four..
Shopping in the aisles of the Wal-Mart machine
Telling themselves it's not as bad, bad, sad as it seems...
Hmmm... uhhh...
Ahhhh! ....

Finally tackled that song that you wanted to do. Good job with it too... You should record this one.
It isn't the moral dilemmas we face during the 12 days of Christmas, it's the ones we ignore during the other 353 days...
Big smile over the iCare line, but drawing to mind your winning stab at JC (Johnny Cash, not Jesus Christ) I thought you did'nt care... ;-)

Yes, the iCare was key and I loved the 364 line too! 555.

Very well done... 5-5-5
Awesome job Jack to a classic Led Zepplin song. Season of cash - common God That they trust - good as gold
Excellent parody. The iCare was the best of several creative lines. I might be missing something since everybody else has awarded this parody 5s for pacing, but I had to deduct a point because "commercial" has 3 syllables and "California" has 4.
Being someone that WORKS in the "Wal-Mart machine", I can tell you that what you said was 100%...ACCURATE! Well done! Fives...out of five!
Overall good work! here's an early christmas gift: 555
Thanks to Matthias & Peter & Jack & Alvin & Pat & Rick & PMS & Guy & Macphisto & Dave & John J!
John J first: (I was hoping I could get away without explaining this one -- ho ho ho!) Yes, there is a syllable difference between "California" and "Commercial". At face value, they are also stressed quite differently from each other. However, Robert Plant utterly obliterates the "to" in the title (as well as elsewhere in the song), so it's sung more like "Goin' California" (or "Go ta California"), with the 1st, 3rd and 5th syllables stressed (6 syllables total). "Growin' Too Commerical", despite the syllable shift of the "too", is also 6 syllables, 1st, 3rd and 5th stressed. "Snow in Minnesota" would be another perfect title fit despite the apparent lost syllable. But thank you much, sir!
Matthias: I've wanted to do TOS for ages. I stalled with the idea "Getting Geriatric", probably for the best... Recording this would be fairly easy, all I need is a guitar and a mandolin (there are no backing tracks I know of).
Peter: As Christmas starts here the day after Thanksgiving, it's more like 32 days this year instead of 12. As for the i Care (I should work for Apple...), it's more a satircal jibe at "must-have" products: I could really care less about iPhones and most of the other commercial crap that is incessantly foisted upon us this time of year.
Thanks to everyone else who commented as well on the "iCare": it was a spur of the moment creation, nothing that had been "saved up", so to speak. Good friends, great comments: what more could a guy want?
(okay, a trailer and an ATV would be nice... :D)

Thanks Chris and Joel! I missed you while typing my above reply. Chris: Glad you liked the Wal-Mart dig. And my condolences. ;)
