Another Epic 40 parody? I clearly am insane.
There's men in rubber rooms
They think they're on the moon
But they're all in the insane asylum
Some think that they are crows
They're quite mad, don't you know
But they don't what they are all there for
Ooooooooooh Ooooooooh
They are stuck in the insane asylum
They might write on the wall
"There's no escape at all"
But the nurses do not get the meaning
There's a patient named Brooke
She's a songbird who sings
Though she knows that it is her delusion
Oooooh it makes you wonder
Oooooh have they lost lovers?
Now it's dinnertime for
The inmates, though for sure
They are plotting of ways for escaping
Keep the celery sticks
'Cause they're deadly as bricks
And attack when the nurse comes to check in
Oooooh think they're Napoleon
Oooooh they really want their freedom
And though they may be loons
And they sing out of tune
Well, not more worse than some people I know
They still have their sad songs
Like roses have thorns
And when they sing, it echoes through the night
Wooaooaoaoaoh
Nurses find Russel in the Dumpster
They couldn't care now
They believe he thinks he's the Trash Queen
He is really there looking hard for
Something that is sharp
And he'll file away his window's bars
And it makes you wonder
Oooooohoooh
How can a madman make plans like that?
Is he really mad?
Did he stop being so demented?
And maybe they're all actually sane
They're still detained
Maybe the nurses enjoy torturing those "loons"?
(Air-guitar solo by Russel, fellow prisoners start to 'rock')
And when the inmates try to go
The nurses keep them from their goal
Their "madness" is then put on show*
Just for the nurses, so you know
Seems like their hearts are black as coal
And if you listen very hard
The patient's cries are heard at last
They are not mad, no, not at all
They don't think they're a basketball
(Prisoners continue to rock, but the nurses order 'SILENCE'! and the tempo suddenly drops back)
But they're trapped in the insane asylum
They think they're on the moon
But they're all in the insane asylum
Some think that they are crows
They're quite mad, don't you know
But they don't what they are all there for

*You could actually visit an asylum in Victorian times to poke fun at the loonies. Then when you left, the nurses got back to pulling out the patient's toenails. Seriously.

'Fives' flew over *this* cuckoo's nest!
Insanity is always a rich mine for humor, but I wish you had dug out more. I would have liked to had more characters like Russell mentioned and discussed.

This would be a cool video... 5-5-5
Good one, Conq.
(SOTM) Call me crazy, but I feel exactly the same way about this as above.
(S.O.T.M.) Wonderful.
"Trash Queen" sounds like a very Below Average Dave type of word, this was a good parody and insanity is always useful parody fodder, but I agree with Aggy on this one some back story would have been nice to make this more than just a goofy insane parody, although I did like that you worked on making this as non-offensive as possible, and actually added things that actually do trigger insanity among people so this was a very thought out piece, and works well with the original song.
(SOTM) Does it Matty? It was funny--but I think a little edge could have put this over the top. I liked the Trash Queen line, and just the general stories of individual characters within the parody.
(SOTM) I'm new to this guys so forgive me if I don't quite get some of these. Are the characters mentioned people we should be familiar with from somewhere, or are they meant to be general characters? Pacing seemed fine but, I guess I'm echoing Dave and Agrimorfee here.
You have to be insane not to 5ive this parody.
SOTM - It's not very nice to write a song about the upcoming Amiright Con before it has happened you know! ;-)
(SOTM) This was pretty good, conq. Something just didn't come together here for me, though I can't quite place what it is. Like MrMac wrote, this would be a cool video. 555
There is a lot of truism in this parody but it is seasoned quite appropriately with humor.
Well done and a plus is that it is a favorite OS of mine.
Funny, but (as has been said above) so much potential humour left unmined - may be worth a sequel, if you can think of the right OS :-)
Great OS to take on and good idea with the parody. I'm echoing others thoughts when I say there could be more humor injected, but you still did a great job as is.
The Russel line made me chuckle as well. Something about the image and the pacing really worked for me there.
As I'm late to comment here, I guess, once you set-up the premise, it would have been fun to have the "patients" doo more goofy things, Good job.
