Song Parodies -> Kerry, Beat Wayward Son
| Original Song Title: | "Carry On Wayward Son" |
| Original Performer: | Kansas |
| Parody Song Title: | "Kerry, Beat Wayward Son" |
| Parody Written by: | Michael Pacholek |
No Democrat has carried the State of Kansas since 1964, and only one since 1936. But that won't stop me from proclaiming that John Kerry, honest man, war hero and man of the people, will reduce the demander-in-thief to "dust in the wind."
Kerry, beat that wayward son!
There'll be peace when you are done.
Put his fascist ways to rest.
We won't cry no more.
Once we rose above the noise and confusion.
Went to Clinton, beat the recession intrusion.
But on came Bush the liar.
We're stuck with his lie.
Though my eyes can see, we're "led" by a blind man.
Though my mind can think, he still is a madman.
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming.
I can hear them say:
Kerry, beat that wayward son!
There'll be peace when you are done.
Put his fascist ways to rest.
We won't cry no more.
Masquerading as a man with a mission
his charade is all his lies of commission.
And if he claims to be a wise man, well
it surely means that he don't know.
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
tossed the ship of state, wiped out on the ocean.
We have no course for winds of fortune
but I hear the voices say:
Kerry, beat that wayward son!
There'll be peace when you are done.
Put his fascist ways to rest.
We won't cry no more.
Kerry, John, we must always remember
recov'ry, nothing equals the splendor.
Soon our life's no longer empty.
Surely heaven waits for us.
Kerry, beat that wayward son!
There'll be peace when you are done.
Put his fascist ways to rest.
We won't cry no more.
There'll be peace when you are done.
Put his fascist ways to rest.
We won't cry no more.
Once we rose above the noise and confusion.

Michael: I, too, have criticisms for George Bush, but I don't think he is a liar or a fascist. Please give examples. Other than the unsupported generalizations, this was a very good parody.
I'm definitely not a Bush fan...aside from the enemies he's created (needlessly) with his war, he has no concept of the environment or the economy. He has singlehandedly gotten me into politics. So...decent song.
