"Social Media"

The Lyrics

Robert Arndt just asked where I've been hiding (or more precisely, "lurking"). There really isn't a good explanation, just an explanation. I am so ashamed, but I won't let that stop me from telling you.
Log onto Facebook
Take just a brief look
At what my friends are having for lunch
Glued to the keyboard, time I can't afford
Bag of chips
I'm beginning to munch

Wasting the day away on social media
Searching for those lost souls from the past
Some people claim there are new friendships to gain
I know, I must get off here fast

It's an addiction
News posts--all fiction
Please check them out first before sending them through
The latest on Hill'ry
Some love and some pill'ry. What Trump will do
We haven't a clue

Wasted a day again on social media
Looking at my new lady friend's cat
Some experts claim my family genes are to blame
But I know--this is why I'm so fat

While candidates flip-flop
Stare at the laptop
Votes weren't there so Cruz left on his own
But, there's kittens and guppies
And cute little puppies
Those dangerous stunts, please don't try them at home

Wasting my life away, such an embarrassment
Eating lots of fat, sugar and salt
Some people claim the internet is to blame
But I know, it's my own damn fault
Yes, and some people claim Mark Zuckerberg is to blame
Still, I know, it's my own damn fault

Now you know what I've been up to. Hope you enjoy it while I'm getting back to Facebook. Like.

After seeing your comment to the song I posted today, I looked at your list and found this one that I had missed. This was a splendid piece of work done to one of my favorite songs!

Nice one, as always.

I would change "to gain" in line 9 to "and fame" to rhyme properly. Similar lines seem to have an extra syllable, so 455 is best I can give for otherwise excellent job. And welcome back; sorry I'm so late finding this.
