Song Parodies -> The Wrecks of the Actor Will Ferrell

Original Song Title:

"The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"

Original Performer:

Gordon Lightfoot

Parody Song Title:

"The Wrecks of the Actor Will Ferrell"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

Sort of inspired by Stan Hall, who did a parody titled "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" to the music of "The Times, They Are A-Changin'." By reading this, you might think I don't like Will Ferrell. Frankly, I'm not sure why anybody does. They even did a survey recently of the most autograph-friendly actors. Johnny Depp finished first. (A bit of a surprise there.) Ferrell finished dead last. Way to stay classy.
The legend lives on from Rock Center on down
of the guy who once walked 8-H studio.
The guy, it is said, is quite sick in the head
and has hair that is weirder than Coolio!

With a load of dumb jokes he joined SNL's blokes
at request of producer named Lorne.
But Michaels, he knew, as the cast, they did, too
that no laughs we should be giving for him!

The studio lied on the Midtown West Side
and he made sketch with Cheri Oteri.
But he'd be disheartened if he really met the Spartans.
Wouldn't need 300 to be scary!

That really dumb sketch made me gurgle and retch.
He's too old and too male for cheerleader.
I hated that jive when it first aired so live
and it didn't improve as repeater!

He was such a fool in the film called "Old School"
and he should have been stuck in detention.
And with his cowbell made us think we're in hell
though some of you might have liked that mention!

He should have quite feared when the bald bad guy sneered.
Dr. Evil dispensed with Mustafa.
To play Bob Woodward didn't seem very hard
but his portrayal in "Dick" was quite awful!

When suppertime came, this old goof came on deck
saying, "Fellas, in green tights I'll greet ya."
In spite of himself, played a very tall elf.
Will, I think Arwen's not glad to meet ya!

Kaczynski he played and as Dubya dismayed.
Those two bombers who put us in peril.
A bad sight to see, "Celebrity Jeopardy!"
'Twas Trebek that was played by Will Ferrell!

Does anyone know where my movie cash goes?
Seems it only goes to feed his ego.
A big waste, you see, "Anchorman," Burgundy.
He ain't classy there in San Diego!

Hey might have split up his NASCAR-revving ride
in the bad flick made in Talladega.
And every film played, his intelligence displayed:
About equal to a raw rutabaga!

The celluloid rolls, its bad humor stings
with bad acting and script and direction.
Reviewer, he steams, this does not meet my dreams
and truth really is stranger than fiction!

And farther below any good films, you know
was his skating film called "Blades of Glory."
To the films we all go, and we all surely know
'twould be better if it had been gory!

In a multiplex hall in New Jersey I watch
far removed from the old Loew's cathedral.
His film really sucks so I won't spend ten bucks
on the wrecks of the actor Will Ferrell!

The legend lives on from Rock Center on down
of the big flake they called Ricky Bobby.
Superior, none said, should have canned him instead
and kicked him out, right into the lobby!

Loved it and gave it 5s, but as Lighfoot would sing it ... Altho’ we’re as one in re flicks one should shun / -- That’s to say any featuring Ferrell -- / My rep for decorum may fall in this forum / If I’m candid, but I’ll risk that peril … / For I must admit Ferrell’s SNL skit / With Oteri always made me giggle / And his hop music flyer with Anna Gastyre / With guilty delight made me wriggle. :-)

Haven't seen his entire oeuvre, but you undercriticized "Old School," one of worst flicks ever.

But you never mentioned M.A.S.H.... oh wait - that's that other wreck of a Ferrell. Extra credit for working 'rutabega' in there. I'm still waiting for the quahog parody tho'...

Merry, Merry, Stan's contrary: / (TV's) M*A*SH had no "F_e_rrell," you know! / With an "a" we spell Mr. Mike F_a_rrell / And, this little aid given, I go. :-)
