The Lyrics

Fearsome cyclones wreak havoc in Miami Florida. But the smaller ones are not without nuisance value. So thank God for those unsung heroes, the Cyclone Towelboys, without whom everyone's precious towels and sheets would just....blow away!! (....go with me on this one, guys...maybe listening to the OS might help)
I've been stalkin' these sheets so long
and that...tie-dyed sarong
I know every nook
in these windblown streets of Miami
where gusty's the name of the game
and linen gets blown away - time again and again
Sure there are loads of jobs less risky
when cy-clones are gettin' frisky
but when they descend, everyone
needs li'l ole me!

I'm a cyclone towelboy!
goin' out in the storm
to retrieve everybody's towels

I'm a cyclone towelboy!
chasin' sheets and ponchos for
people who just don't know how
(I always get those towels back...somehow)

Well I really don't mind the rain
there is less-chance
of wet towels strayin'
and my towel-supervisor keeps payin'
me by the retrieval
If it's dry, I need my lasso
coz those towels get tangled
in the telephone lines (yes they do)
Sure there are jobs more enterprisin'
where I might not get as heightsick
but when those dudes blow, noone's more
important than me

I'm a cyclone towelboy!
scaling ra-dio towers just to snatch
back young Johnny's towel

....a cyclone towelboy!
getting hugs and kisses from
folk related (god knows how)
I humbly tip me hat then say "ciao"

I'm a cyclone towelboy!
Heading out in the storm where Florid-ians dare not go

I'm a cyclone towelboy!
and there aint a cyclone I won't stare in the eye you know

I'm a cyclone towelboy...
yup...
that's me alright...
yessirree bub...
darn tootin'

Nice Job to have if you don't mind getting wet and blown around. Good parody.

thanks Matthias (no, I haven't!) - thanks Pat - thanks alvin

thanks TJC (rhine?) - thanks Jack :-) - thanks AFW, esp. for the "funny and interesting"! :-)

This isn't about disgraced Palm Beach Conressman Mark Foley and his, um, assistants?

This must be your Decathlon entry for the country leg. I have to agree with all of the above praise (if I'm correct, TJC's comment was a play on "rhyme" ). I see you've left a few blunt comments today about James Blunt elsewhere; in all honesty, I would have suffered more making this than the two times I did "You're Beautiful"! ;) 555.

thanks for the 5s, MP - thanks Red, and I agree totally - parodying this took me back to the only time I ever used to regularly listen to Casey Kasem's Countdown, and it was when this was number 1 four weeks in a row (or more) and I dreaded having to hear it triumph each week
Jeff Reuben - October 17, 2006 - Report this comment
That was interesting...everyone hears about the Miami Hurricanes, but the spinoff cyclones are all too often forgotten.
Stuart McArthur - October 17, 2006 - Report this comment
my point exactly, Jeff! :-)

Ha!! I don't think Ive ever been so tickled by a comment, JD - seriously!...(sigh, if only I could always be brilliantly stupid....lol!)

......and of course "nutso" comes in a very close second (thanks Kristof! - ;-))...thanks tomario also :-)

Arwen - November 06, 2006 - Report this comment
Decathlon...for some reason I was expecting a climax where the towelboy got attacked by everyone with wet towel whips. I really can't explain why...and now, I'm a little more than ashamed to have admitted that I'd had that in mind. How embarrassing. Anyway...this made me giggle quite a bit, Stu...excellent job.
Stuart McArthur - November 13, 2006 - Report this comment
thanks bobpie, josh and Kristof (again esp. for the "nutso")

and thanks Arwen for revealing the inner workings of your charming mind - I'll try to keep wet-towel-whipped-towelboy-climaxes in mind for my next parody ;-)
