Parody Song Title:

"Microsoft"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

Spending all day cursing Microsoft
Some program's crashing, someone's data's been lost
Just another crazy day
You work the night away
As you try to fix everything

You thought it sorted, but it's started again, another
"little" problem with NTVDM
And it's taken you so long
To find out what was wrong
That this job won't earn anything

You used to have fun working with PCs
Used to enjoy working with PCs
But they're wearing
They're so wearing now
Another ****ing curse thrown at Windows
Just one more expletive thrown at Windows
Yes you're swearing
You're swearing now

Gone down again, that blue screen you know so well, you wanna
Pick up a rocket and blow Bill Gates to hell
As it does it once again
You start to go insane
And you scream and shout anything

Much more of this and you will finally crack, you're gonna
Foam at the mouth just like some maniac
You might finally settle down
When you've torched the whole town
And nuked about everything

But unexpectedly it starts running
Yes, unaccountably it starts running
And you're squawking
Yes, you're swawking: "How???"
You know tomorrow it'll keep breaking
Another upgrade it'll keep breaking
But it's working
Yes, it's working now

This one's partly true, too... while on-site last week, I was hit by a NTVDM "feature" where the current system time returned by the newly-obsolete function (the one MS used to recommend using) a) was 33 minutes and 7 seconds fast when the application was started but b) didn't update thereafter. I ended up having to write a function to check the system time using the 32-bit function and set the 16-bit clock. Kluge after kluge after kluge...

Good job, Phil! I have a Win2k infected with some variants of the CoolWebSearch trojan scumware and WHAT a hassle, wiping it out only to see it re-emerge days later. May have to re-format again..
