The Lyrics

Heading out to Sin City soon and thought I'd write a little parody to get me ready. I'm really a fool for blackjack and Vegas is the place to go for that since I have no casinos in my area. You can still find a few playable games there, the rooms are cheap and the atmosphere is great. Place your bets please. ;-)
Fool For Las Vegas

Goin' to Las Vegas, gamblin' on my mind
Neon sure is pretty, I don’t know what I’ll find
Got no indecision, I'm goin’ there to win this time!

'Cause I'm a fool for Las Vegas, what a jewel that Las Vegas
Drool for Las Vegas, I'm a fool for Las Vegas

Lost my money last time, got back home with none
They don’t want to play fair, I'll get up and run
I'm ready for Las Vegas, retribution here I come!

'Cause I'm a fool for Las Vegas, what a jewel that Las Vegas
Drool for Las Vegas, I'm a fool for Las Vegas

I’ll just be lookin’ for good games
I gotta stay out the hole
Casino lights get me losin’ control
I play no slot machine; I'm just a blackjack man
I'm gonna pelt the felt just as fast as I can

I'm tired of stayin' home, mopin' around
I'm gonna catch that plane, then I'll be Vegas bound

I play no roulette wheel; I'm just a blackjack man
I'm gonna throw the dough just as fast as I can

I'll walk up the main street, listen to the crowd
Hopin’ there’s no bad beats, yeah, talkin’ good and loud
When I get my table I’ll go wild, I'll be winnin’ like I vowed

'Cause I'm a fool for Las Vegas, I'm a fool for Las Vegas
Need a pool in Las Vegas, it ain’t cool in Las Vegas
I'm a fool (Fool for Las Vegas) I’ll rule in Las Vegas, (Fool for Las Vegas)
I'm a fool (Fool for Las Vegas) I’ll duel in Las Vegas, (Fool for Las Vegas)
I'm a fool (Fool for Las Vegas) A blackjack fool (Fool for Las Vegas)

I'm a fool yea (Fool for Las Vegas) I drool for Las Vegas, (Fool for Las Vegas)
(Fool for Las Vegas) (Fool for Las Vegas)
I play no baccarat, woo! (Fool for Las Vegas) (Fool for Las Vegas)
Woo! (Fool for Las Vegas) (Fool for Las Vegas)
A Fool for Las Vegas (Fool for Las Vegas) (Fool for Las Vegas)
Whoo! (Fool for Las Vegas) (Fool for Las Vegas)

A fool and his money are soon parted ... but at least you chose the only game in which, at times, the player can have the edge ... until they started dealing from six-deck shoes and shuffling after every deal. Google the MIT students who worked out the math to beat the casinos -- and, of course, were banned for it (casinos don't like to lose), and so were all other card-counters. (People who keep track in their minds of what cards have been dealt, which are left in the deck, and what that does to the odds of busting, making "5 and under", the dealer busting, etc.) Good luck, and here's $555 to start you off.

Thanks for the comments everyone. :-)

Fiddlegirl: I hope those are purple chips!

Mark: You're most welcome. And I'm gonna get those shocks replaced as soon as I get back.

TJC: Thanks, I'm hoping the dealer has a five in the hole all night long.

AFW: Ooow, slots. I feel for you bro. ;-) They are tough, but chance for a huge payoff if you get lucky.

Tommy Turtle: Thanks for the bankroll boost. They can only ban you if they *know* you're counting cards. The trick is not to move your lips. ;-)

you captured the essence well

You'd think someone as "allegedly" sharp as TT would have figured from your nick that you know about counting, the MIT guys, etc. (d'oh). What a pea-brained reptile! ... btw, there were 422 words and 2042 characters in your parody.

Thanks alvin, I'm all about the essences.

Rain Man: LOL! Thanks for the word count, but what I really need to know is the ratio of long words to short words. Could you ask TT for me? ;-)
Rain Man - August 01, 2009 - Report this comment
Was just a (movie) ref to counting the toothpicks that fell out of the box, but to answer the question: The deck has an average value of (95/13)=7.3, but the English language regards words as having an average count of 5. So the parody would favor the dealer. However, TT's parodies, especially the pedantic and geeky ones, often contain sesquipedalianisms, and so would have a much higher ratio of long:short. So you want to get the casino to use Tommy's parodies. The only problem is that there are a lot of people who think that TT isn't playing with a full deck.

Good job, blackjack21, and I could tell right away that you are a fan of blackjack, specifically from your username. (That tells people that you like blackjack, just like mine tells people my name. :-) ) I hope you have a good time gambling, but don't lose every cent you've got like I usually do. And as for TT, I think he's playing with a full deck for sure, and it's usually ME that gets accused of being a few sandwiches short of a picnic (i.e., not playing with a full deck) both online and off. 5s.
