The Lyrics

"I've made fun of 11 Presidents in my time," the late, great Alan King said in 1987, "and I'm not gonna stop, especially now that it's easy!" Yet, as Congresswoman Pat Schroeder of Colorado said, he was the Teflon President. Against all common sense, he still is.
Reagan wears his smile like a crown.
He calls the homeless lazy
'cause he thinks that way.
And he always puts the working people down.

Reagan, Reagan likes his money.
His friends all rich, they say.
Spends his days riding
on his ranch in Cal-ee-for-ni-ay.

He was born a pauper to a drunk
but there came a day
when the L.A. Times said, "Don't be Red!"
And the Cold War's on!
Jerry Falwell has a son today!

And he shall be Teflon!
And we say he's a good man!
And he shall be Teflon!
In tradition with the right-wing plan!
And he shall be Teflon!
And we say he's a good man!
And he shall be Teflon!

Reagan sells his platitudes in town.
His family values shine.
Iran blows up Marines one day
and Reagan gives them guns, don't know why.

And Clinton, he beat Ron Reagan's VP
leaving deficit behind.
His son's a buffoon, he goes sailing
while Reagan's Teflon slowly dies.

"I'm glad Reagan is President," Will Durst said. "But then, I'm a comedian."

Michael - Yeah, Reagan had "Teflon", but he didn't get treated any better than W does now. I mean, there are things that SHOULD have been in the papers when he ran in 2000, that are just being mentioned (and then shunted aside) now...he never was properly vetted either by his party or the media - and neither was Dick Chaney, either (remember, his job was SUPPOSED to be vetting the candidates for VP - guess he couldn't find anyone qualified so he "humbly" volunteered...and no one seems to have checked him out after he did so...)...enuff from me for now, can feel the heat rising under my collar even as a bang away on my keyboard...
