Song Parodies -> On This Opening Day There's Rain
| Original Song Title: | "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" |
| Original Performer: | Creedence Clearwater Revival |
| Parody Song Title: | "On This Opening Day There's Rain" |
| Parody Written by: | Michael Pacholek |
The Northeast was drenched by rain on Opening Day 2009. As I type this, the Boston Red Sox have already postponed their home opener. The Yankees are in Baltimore, and I wouldn't bet a plugged nickel on that one starting on time, either.

Someone told me long ago
there's an end to winter storms.
I know.
But we've got a storm in spring.
When it's over, so they say
baseball games we're gonna play.
I know.
First let's lose the water.
Oh, don't you know
on this Opening Day there's rain.
Oh, don't you know
on this Opening Day there's rain.
Coming down, and we can't play.
Yesterday and days before
weather can't make up its mind.
I know.
Been that way for all my time.
Play one hundred sixty-two.
If you're lucky, more, it's true.
I know.
When will it start, I wonder?
Oh, don't you know
on this Opening Day there's rain.
Oh, don't you know
on this Opening Day there's rain.
Coming down, and we can't play.
Yeah!
Oh, don't you know
on this Opening Day there's rain.
Oh, don't you know
on this Opening Day there's rain.
Coming down, and we can't play.

Olbermann's mother died on Saturday. Nice timing, you bastard. As for myself, I wish the Yanks-O's game HAD been rained out, as C.C. Sabathia did not have his good stuff at all.
Why such low marks? This is good - or did I miss some inside joke?
Olbermann used to be a sportscaster; it was the only thing he was ever good at. Pacholek here is into sports; it's the only thing he's ever really understood at all. Both of them are thus given to sounding off very loudly about things they don't understand at all, as portrayed (with only the slightest bit of exaggeration) on Saturday Night Live.
The retards is after ya, Mike. 555
like the old blues number phrase..."feel so bad...feel like a ballgame on a rainy day"
