The Lyrics

HALT! IN THE NAME OF THE LAUGH!! :-D Boy I went overtime at rhymezone.com with this one! Man! I went overtime on it period! :-o Yep, It was a toughie! ;-)
Parents told me, yes they told me I’d have friends like you
They also told me “Stay away they are a bad influence.”
Just today someone told me of a child doing time
Some ten year old punk that’s has gone down

Things never go right, unless they go wrong, but wrong is how they go
Offender, offender, but don’t let them take him alive, al, iiiiiiive

Congress says “We can do what you can’t cause we make all the laws”
“It’s how we can stop all you rebel’s and don’t give a damn about your cause”
Now I have heard the difference between the cops and the crooks
But today is not like that I believe that they’re the same difference

Things don’t get better, unless they get worse, and worse is all they get
Offender, offender, but don’t let them take her alive, al, iiiiiiive

Every time a cop guns down a criminal they give them a medal
Sometimes I just get to thinking do they follow the manual
Think it’s time us kids took the law into our own hands
What’s the difference between a book and premeditated plans?

Things have got bad, now they’ve got worse, the worst case scenario
Offender, offender, I won’t let them take me alive, al, iiiiiiive

Alllllllllllive!
Alllllllllllive!

Offender, offender, but don’t let them take him alive.
(Things don’t get better, unless they get worse)
Offender, offender, but don’t let them take her alive.
(Things never go right, unless they go wrong)
Offender, offender, but don’t let them take him alive.
(Things have got bad, now they’ve got worse)
Offender, offender, I won’t let them take me alive.
(Worse is all they get, The worst case scenario, But wrong is how they go)
Offender, offender, but don’t let them take her alive.
(Worse is all they get, The worst case scenario, But wrong is how they go)
Offender, offender, we won’t let them take us alive.
(Things have got bad, now they’ve got worse)

(Repeat and fade….)

I thought I'd carry on the "Over The Edge" movie tradition, since the original song of this parody was used in the film, I decided to make another parody, based on the film again. Hope you like it! :-)

JIN - Truly a difficult task, but mission accomplished. To parody a standard B-movie cliche ..."You'll never take me alive, Wild Child"! ;D

OMR: Thank you for your comment and vote! :-) Yes, this was a tough parody to write, but I managed to pull it through the works. And yes, "Over The Edge" was in fact a low budget but surprisingly overrated movie. I did however enjoy the film, and still do today, I also own the DVD and VHS tape of it also. Once again, thank you for your comment/vote and I'm glad that you enjoyed my song! -WCJ- :-)

I remember this song, and gave it a play on Youtube. I like the parody idea, but I still got lost on the pacing. If your parody fits a live version with slightly different lyrics, it will help to let us know in the intro which one you used.

"Some In-do-ne-sian junk that's go-in' round"
"Some ten year old punk that has gone down"
"Indonesian" is sung with 4 syllables - "ten year old" is only 3, which makes it difficult to follow.

The next bit lost me completely:
"Mom-my's al-right" (4 syllables)
"Dad-dy's al-right" (4)
"They just seem a lit-tle weird" (7)
To:
"Things nev-er go right" (5)
"Un-less they go wrong" (5)
"But wrong is how they go" (6)

Maybe I'm being too fussy - if you think so, just ignore me (or tell me to shut the f**k up!) :)

An easy way to make it match better is to write each line of the song with each syllable divided (In-do-ne-sian), and then write your own line below it in the same way. You'll see any glitches as you match one against the other. Keep at it!

Andy Primus: I would never say something like that to you. You do indeed have a point about the pacing, I did in fact have great trouble with the pacing of TOS, so it's only natural that it could and was off in several places. I don't mind low scores, well, unless they are 1's or 2's, but 3's are OK by me, but I'd prefer that whoever gives me the three, explain in a comment like you did a very well job of doing, to me, as to why I was given that score. :-) But everything is OK as far as your comment and vote is concerned, and I thank you kindly for both. I don't expect three 5's everytime, cause nobody's perfect at anything or everything, including me. ;-)

Mark Scotti: Thank you for your C and V! and now that I take another look at it, and at the lyric sheet I printed out on my Mac computer, upon closer inspection and resinging my lyrics to the beat of the song again, I found that the pacing was really not that bad at all. :-) Maybe a little windy in places, but it still fit the beat of the song.

Mark Scotti: Also I am glad that you liked my parody, I also in turn read yours, and liked it as well, I left a comment and vote there for you. :-) Thanks Again to all who commented and/or voted! :-) -WCJ-

Thanks Tommy Turtle! I hope you don't mind, but I downloaded the page that your link took me to, so I can study it later on when I get a chance. :-)

WCJ: Of course I don't mind! -- else wouldn't have put it on the Net for all to see and read. Only thing asked in return is common courtesy: if you refer or show it to others, please credit it properly and give them the link -- we all like to see how often our pages are hit.

One other favor: Feedback on whether it works for you. (positive or negative). Of course, your future parodies will answer that to a large degree :-D , but any specific suggestions for improvement or clarity, or single out what was particularly helpful -- I can always modify the page based on feedback. Fastest way is to leave a comment at any of my songs, as I usually check for my "Latest Comments" every few days, even when not posting for a long time.

There's also a way to contact me directly there, as well as at all of my songs for the past year or two (captcha link at the bottom), though no response time guaranteed, esp. while I'm trying to get my @#$% income taxes done. Hope you find it useful!

(psst -- you *did* notice that there were *two* pages, right? The link at the bottom pf Pg. 1 takes you to Pg. 2, so that the one page doesn't scroll on forever, as these song pages do.)

The author of the parody has authorized comments, and wants YOUR feedback.
