The devil went out to Vegas
He was lookin' for a soul to steal
Shouldn’t be too hard in his own backyard
But he was willin' to make a deal
When he came across this one man
Playin' some blackjack and playin’ it hot
And the devil jumped up on a slot machine
And said,"Man let me tell you what.
I guess you didn't know it
But I'm a blackjack dealer too.
And if you'd care to take a dare
I'll make a bet with you.
Now you play a pretty good game old man,
But give the devil his due.
I'll bet these chips of gold against your soul
'Cause I think that I can beat you."
The man said, "My name's Johnny,
And it might be a sin,
But I'll take your bet and
You're gonna regret it
‘Cause I'm the best there's ever been."

Johnny, sharpen up your skills and don’t get yourself barred
‘Cause hell's broke loose in Vegas
And the devil’s dealin’ cards.
And if you win you get this stack of chips made out of gold
But if you lose the devil gets your soul.

Well the devil shuffled up the decks
And he said, "I'll start this show."
And fire flew from his fingertips
As he dealt them out real slow
And he tossed the cards across the felt
And then he turned up an ace.
He looked for fear in Johnny’s eyes
But couldn’t find the slightest trace

Johnny hit a blackjack
And he said, "Well that’s pretty good old son”
The devil asked for even money
Johnny said, “That ain’t how it's done."

The devil bowed his head
Because in the end, he'd been beat
And he laid that golden chip stack
