My big finale for the Parody Decathlon 2.0. And there was much rejoicing (yay!).
If you say my lab's a mess

Seems a new explosion's always near

*Elements in Group 1 of the Periodic table, like sodium, have one extra electron, and are desperate to lose it. Makes them really reactive. Drop a lump of sodium in water? BOOM. **Pyromaniacs, of course.

Reminds me a lot of Dave's "Mix Two Chemicals", which is where you probably got your idea from, this parody like his were brilliant, and I actually think that yours (Don't tell Dave this) was funnier than his. So GREAT JOB Conquerer!

I have a weakness for using "KABOOM!" in parodies, so a bonus for that :-) (incidentally, sodium only really fizzes a bit in water; lithium barely reacts, and as you go down group 1 they get more reactive: at a friend's school, a guy demolished the loos by panicking and trying to flush a lump of potassium... I don't think many schools try it with caesium - it'd be a very expensive bang)
Decathlon...I am always in the mood for Billy Joel parodies, and this one was top notch! Perfect for the assignment, too!

Fun stuff, a tribute to high school chemistry for more than one of us :)
(Dec2) "I could play some soccer I could hang with friends But instead I'm socially Inept, that's what they said That explains this strange hobby That's unsafe for my head I know Explode, whoah, whoah" . . .that stanza has to be my favorite, primarily because--at least to me--it reminds me that Mix Two Chemicals WAS qualified as a bad habit--but alas enough about me. . .this parody has to be one of your more creative, you relied a little heavily on explosions, but some of your word choices were fantastic--I liked the socially inept reference, and something about the word Kaboom in such a sappy song made me giggle, can't say where I'm voting this just yet, as I have so many more to read, but this one-Conq-is amongst your best.

(SOTM-FEB08) I have always seemed to learn chemistry the hard way like when I really understood the difference between flammable and inflammable. Love Billy Joel songs - have done a lot of his OS in my writings and this one is written very well.
