The Lyrics

I came home with a smile, 'cause I met a new guy
'Cross a dark crowded room caught his dreamy brown eye
And he winked as he struck up some small talk with me
I almost forgot how romantic a new crush can be!

There were traces of love when he said "Nice to meet you."
Asked me, "Do you like art?" But meant "Can I complete you?"
And my prayers were an-swered when he said he'd call me
Took my heart like a thief; oh, how thrilling this new love will be!

Oh...and he kissed me goodnight
Only just on the cheek
'Cause his manners are fine
Now...as I'm brushing my teeth
I've got doubts creeping in
And I'm changing my mind

He might be a man-whore, his bad habits repeatin'
What if he should propose and then I catch him cheatin'?
Stop the heart in my chest if he walks out on me
Now I'm shaking with rage; didn't know what a jerk he could be!

Oh...so wrapped up in himself
He'll for-get my birthday
And be drunk all the time
And...with his friends he'll go out
When I ask, "Can I come?"
He'll just leave me behind

Sure, tonight he was kind, but someday he'll be cruel
So there's no way I'm dating him, I'm not a fool!
I'll avoid what's predicted; when he calls I'll flee
And the most he will do, leave a message or two
Then regret how bad he treated me

Us guys... we've no clue what's actually "transacting"! As always, you are the master (mistress) of inner dialogue parody!

The sad part is, this may actually be what's going on in Arwen's mind. If so, take five of these pills... and I'll call you in the morning! Wait, there's a two-hour time difference... and the long-distance charges... and the roaming... well, maybe I won't call... hmmmm, maybe you're right after all!

Very funny, but a bit too true for comfort! 555

Love doesn't come from the eyes but it sounds like you learned that the hard way.

alvin...anytime...it's what I'm here for, after all! Thanks!

TJC...well thank you very much...I really appreciate it!

Michael...don't be ridiculous...this isn't a glimpse inside MY mind. My mind is FAR too full of other things...(Mr. Diesel, Mr. Bloom, Mr. Pacholek)...to entertain such nonsense. Who am I to think bad thoughts about a fella who so clearly worships me? He's obviously got great taste...; )

Ravyn...sad, isn't it? How we ladies get worked up over the things we create in our minds? I read somewhere that like 88% of the things that we assume and/or imagine about the motives and behaviors of other people is false. Somehow I think I might be closer to 108%. But then, I always was ahead of the game. Thanks!

Ann...oh no, I have yet to learn that. Why else do you think I'm madly in love with Vin Diesel? Because my eyes told me I was, that's why.

Very funny, reminded me of "Good Enough For Now" by Weird Al in style...funny, but real enough that you can relate (as opposed to One More Minute which was over the top)

Hey, this is great! As a single woman myself (yes, I'm still single at 31!), I can relate to many of these things, since there have been a few guys I've experienced this kind of relationship with. And maybe one or two of 'em have ultimately turned out this way. Here's another perfect 5-5-5 vote for ya. =)

And in case I don't stop by here tomorrow, have a nice Thanksgiving holiday!! ;)

Good stuff here! 5's for you.

DKTOS, sorry. I decided to read it anyway though.

Haven't been by here in a while...so I thought I'd check this one out. I think it's really good! I tried voting 5-5-5 just now, but it wouldn't go through for some reason. Guess I'll have to try again later.

Jeff...anytime you compare me, even in the smallest way, to Al, I'm going to be happy. Thanks a ton...=) And you're right about it being real...I've imagined more reasons to be mad at guys than I'd care to admit...but I'm adorable, so it's okay.

Serafina...thanks very much! I appreciate it!

Ferragamo...thanks!

Joe...were you trying to get some insight by reading it without knowing the song? If so...did you get any? Because I think I'm more confused now than I was when I started writing it...=( Thanks for stopping by...=)

Kozar...hey, it's the comment that counts...I'm glad you liked it! Thanks!

It's... it's... well... poignant is what it is, if you'll forgive my saying so. Funny and clever and very... very... human. Damn, girl -- you good. You real good. For really real.
Arwen - July 20, 2007 - Report this comment
Leo...there's nothing to forgive...I love being considered poignant...as it happens so infrequently. ; ) Also, when I started this one, it wasn't my intention to go the way I ended up going...but really...that's the way I generally go in real life...so...I like how it ended up. Some days I just think of it as being ridiculous...but other days it just makes me smile...because I have SO done this before...
