Song Parodies -> Love Is Something Else
| Original Song Title: | "The Rose" |
| Original Performer: | Bette Midler |
| Parody Song Title: | "Love Is Something Else" |
| Parody Written by: | Claude Prez |
Went to my very first karaoke night on vacation recently (no, I didn't sing); the best one was a lady who sang this but it still made me wish the lyrics were a little different...
Some say love, it is a flower
A tender, fragile rose
Some say love, is more like crabgrass
Cause like or not, it grows
Some say love, it is a cabbage
It makes a dreadful stink
I say love, it is a pretzel
It makes you want a drink
No wait, love, it is a hot dog
It's not what it may seem
Ooh! No! Love, it is a taco
Just hold the sour cream
How 'bout love, it is a skateboard
Fun, but kind of rough
Maybe love, it is a donut
Filled with tasty fluff
Clearly love, is a banana
At first, it has a peel
Then it's cut in little pieces
And added to cer-eal
So eat, that love banana
Eat every little bit
Or else love, will get some ice cream
And love will have to split
A tender, fragile rose
Some say love, is more like crabgrass
Cause like or not, it grows
Some say love, it is a cabbage
It makes a dreadful stink
I say love, it is a pretzel
It makes you want a drink
No wait, love, it is a hot dog
It's not what it may seem
Ooh! No! Love, it is a taco
Just hold the sour cream
How 'bout love, it is a skateboard
Fun, but kind of rough
Maybe love, it is a donut
Filled with tasty fluff
Clearly love, is a banana
At first, it has a peel
Then it's cut in little pieces
And added to cer-eal
So eat, that love banana
Eat every little bit
Or else love, will get some ice cream
And love will have to split

Strangely enough, Claude, I misread the last word, leaving out the "l".. as I think about it, it seems that maybe that last word is (how shall I put it) a euphemism?
This was good... i went to my first karaoke night during the cruise i went on a few weeks ago. I ended up going for at least a litle while very night and for almost the whole time a few nights. It took awhile for me to build up the courage to go up there by myself, but once i did i kept going back again and again. I wasb thinking about choosing a song i had done a parody to and singing my lyrics instead of the ones on the screen but never quite got around to it... maybe the next time i do karaoke i'll try that.
Claude I love this; I'd love to add some of my own verses but I'll refrain. Thanks for the laugh.
I like this. Definitely has "a peel".
Very creative, Claude. Royce is right, it does beg other verses. 5-5-5
A tasty little morsel, this!
Very clever, Claude!
This is a great one, Claude. Gets every author's mind ticking. "Love is carving your initials.. on a white dove".
Ah, turns out I do know the original song after all .... wasn't sure at first, but I got it now..... good job, Claude 5's
Love means never having to say you're infected.
shameless plug here... since so many of you know this song maybe you can check out my parody a few days back called "the cold". Its not as good as this but right now it just has 3 votes
Some say excellence, it is a Claude Prez parody. This was all good, especially the hot dog line.
Thank you, Claude. Now, the next time I hear that song AGAIN, I'll think of your pretzels and hot dogs instead! Maybe that singer at the karaoke can do your version next time.
Thanks everyone; for the record, I'd welcome any additions or revisions to this. I like it but I'm sure there's a much better song in the idea somewhere; I just got tired of looking for it.
