Original Song Title:

"What About Me?"

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"(Haw) What About Gee?"

Parody Written by:

Merry & Pippin

The Lyrics

For the agriculturally challenged among you "Haw'"and "Gee" are terms used to tell oxen to turn 'left' and 'right' respectively...
Ha-a-a-aw haw-a haw. What about gee?
We're stuck here reeling in a roun-o-ondoo
Ha-a-a-aw haw-a haw. What about gee?
Direct this pair oxen in swingletree - do!

Please make it clear
While we're plowing the ground
For we can't just till it
If awry commands abound
We've set this farmer's pace
Decrees do confound
Please steer us steers
'Cus we're going round and round

Ha-a-a-aw haw-a haw. What about gee?
We'd plot some fieldings with the ri-i-ight cue
Ha-a-a-aw haw-a haw. What about gee?
Tight circling gaffs are harrowi-i-ing too

Just can't go dexter
This spiral's all wrong
He don't know the words to use
He's a rube at this here farm
Jes' forma-tivin' crop circles
Like some alien bloke
And if we keep going sinister
This swirl will be a yoke!

Ha-a-a-aw haw-a haw. What about gee?
We'd love complying with the ri-i-ight cue
Ha-a-a-aw haw-a haw. What about gee?
Direct this pair oxen in swingletree - do!
Direct this pair oxen in swingletree - moo!

It took me a little thinking, but I know this song also--Anne Murray did some good numbers, "there's a wren in the willow wood..." one of my favorite lines from another song of hers. Good parody!
