The Lyrics

The "heat was hot" line in the OS always made me chuckle, because the statement seemed so obvious and redundant.
And then I thought, what if the whole song was that way? Hmmm...
In the first part, the beginning
I was looking out with my eyes
There were items, objects, stuff and things
There were circles, loops and rings
The first group I saw was the earliest set
In the sky, gas with clouds
The heat was hot and the water wet
And the air was all around

I've been on a bender on a horse with a mane
I felt good when I wasn't in pain
In the desert, views seem forever unchanged
'Cause there's only sand and it never does rain
La, la ...

After two days, it was one plus one
My skin, it covered my head
After three days, it was two plus one
Or it could be one plus two instead
And the story I wrote had a whole bunch of prose
Typed on pages meant to be read

You see I've been in the weather on a horse with some reins
It felt wet riding out in the rain
And the weather, it can be windy or tame
You can tell which one by observing a vane
La, la ...

After nine days, it's two plus four plus three
That's a little more than a week
There were plants with stems and leaves that cling
And they swing and sway in spring
The ocean is much wetter than the land it surrounds
And it's under the sky above
In the beginning I did start this account
Of the doodles I've written of

You see I made up this story on a horse with a mane
I wrote stuff that I had to explain
I feel better than I may ever again
'Cause the tale is done, over, finished - the end
La, la ...

Hey, Carpet-Bomber, you missed one! What? Are you on drugs or something? You should pay more attention in the future, you idiot!

Great hit job on a tune that seriously deserved it, with grins and chuckles thruout and dead-on timing. You know how to parody. Gonna look for some of your other stuff.

Fave line: "You can tell which one by observing a vane" - lol!

THAT was fabulous! It's a shame it hasn't had more views. I have been on about "the heat was hot" for years to anyone who will listen. You have taken that to a level where I wish I had thought of. Great job, Derry.

Thanks to all who appreciated this one!

Peregrin, on this site, I've come to realize that how much response one gets is largely a matter of chance often related to how many others posted songs on the same day.

This is really excellent. A "real" parody of the song (not just changing the lyrics) with clever wordplay and a concept that holds water in an arid land.

I followed wandlimb here to check out what was meant by a 'real parody'. I love it. Redundancy is a great tool in the comic writer's arsenal. This real parody really is a parody.
