The Lyrics

Once upon a time, the school year began after Labor Day. Today (in Kentucky at least) students, teachers, administrators, and staff return beginning in the second week of August. I, however, am completely placid and relaxed. Although it took me thirty-four years to get out of the eighth grade, I finally made it! ;D

(Famous guitar intro)

Well we've had our fun
In the summer sun.
Seems it just begun,
Now our break is done!

All the staff's returnin' -
In-service time!
'Though summer's burnin',
The bell will chime.

School's back in session!
School's back in business!
School is back for autumn!

No more down time.
No more rest.
Just start cramming
For May's test!

(Instrumental break)

We've filed all year's plans
With the central office staff.
We've got our cirriculum
In compliance with No Child Behind.

Run school like business!
Fill every second!
Lunch food picked by White House!

Start in August
Heat and haze,
Just in case we
Have snow days!
If low test scores -
Break the rules,
Just like in
Atlanta Schools!

Push strange agenda!
Indoctrinate kids!
Crush all free-thinking!
Only blame the teachers!

There is more to an education than what can be measured on standardized tests. Pushing any and all social agenda, no matter how laudable, is not the work of schools. The relationship between administrators/supervisors and teachers does NOT have to be adversarial to be effective. Teachers are NOT always and only to blame for lack of achievement. I'll miss the students, but NOT all this counter-productive garbage. ;D

Great job at showing the dire state of our school system. Spinning off the schools into a government-sponsored enterprise or even a for-profit company like the Wackenhut-operated prisons and getting the government out of most or all of it seems like the best solution to me. I love it as usual... and FIVES FOR OMR!!!
