Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Blue Blue Bass of Mine"

Parody Written by:

Susanna Viljanen

The old amp stands in corner as I plug in the cord
and the other end I plug on my bass
I sit down and switch on amplifier
play the first notes with desire
Again I play that blue, blue bass of mine
When I feel emotional or tired
it's time to get my old bass wired
I'll play the good old blue, blue bass of mine

The old song I remember, though the words aren't quite the same
But I try to get my lyrics to pace on -
I hum a song and play the bass a little
the tune begins as frail and brittle
It's good to pick that blue, blue bass of mine
When my mood is down and I need pepping
I place my fingers on the fretting
I'll start to play that blue, blue bass of mine

[spoken:]

Then the door bangs, it's the neighbour, he complains it is bedtime
and his children must have peace for the night -

For there's the school and they must get some sleeping
otherwise it's a lot of weeping
I have to put down blue, blue bass of mine
Yes, while I love playing loud and clearly
neighbours' ears won't take it dearly
No more tonight that blue, blue bass of mine

Well written and atmospheric...I take it from all the details that you really play?

High votes for a low instrument.

TJC, yes. I have both a bass (blue Squier) and a guitar (Höfner 172, a German Stratocaster clone), and I've played bass already in high school. Music is excellent therapy if you are stressed or not feeling too well.

You seem to be on a writing roll lately, Susanna. This is a good parody and it might have given me an idea, I'm not sure I'll pursue it.
