The Lyrics

Naturally, this is the author's favorite band. The following is dedicated to Her Majesty's loyal subjects, our friends in the U. K. (see below)
Imagine Bush and Blair
The pair
Just plotting out their next attack
Upon Iraq
Perhaps they've both been sucking weed
Or smoking crack
So crazy together

If Bush should call Blair up
To start a war
And tell him that he needs some troops
And Blair sends more
It's not clear: Is he Bush's friend
Or just his whore?
So crazy together

I can't see these loonies accomplishing peace
In our lifetimes
Can't they get this dumb occupation to cease
In our lifetimes?

Blair and Bush
And Bush and Blair:
You cannot force democracy
In everywhere
Or make benevolent regimes
Out of thin air
So crazy together

I can't see these loonies accomplishing peace
In our lifetimes
Can't they get this dumb occupation to cease
In our lifetimes?

Blair and Bush
And Bush and Blair:
You cannot force democracy
In everywhere
Or make benevolent regimes
Out of thin air
So crazy together

So crazy together
Please cut the tether
So crazy together
They're crazy together
So crazy together...
A little ways back, a few of the Colonists had a minor difference of opinion with His Majesty, King George III. Two hundred and thirty years later, we now live under King George I's dim son, King George II. Had those Colonists been able to forsee this consequence of their actions, they might very well have chosen to pay the bloody tea tax. © 2006 Tommy Turtle. Very good, though repeating the chorus and verse and skipping the 'ba ba' part cost you a point on funny. A [insert high number here] on sentiment though.

it's still good.

Just trying to stay true to the original. Another parody by moi was criticized for omitting a verse that repeated, for the sake of brevity (soul of wit, you know). Can't please everyone, I suppose -- is there a rule about this in the FAQ?

TUVM both.

Tommy, there is no rule on it though personally I'd rather see a copy/pasted verse/chorus (as done here) than an omission. Omissions (in most cases) to me are flat out lazy or demonstrate poor knowledge of TOS (The Original Song). FWIW I came close to straight 5s on this and had the verse/chorus been even slighty different I would have voted that way.

Incisive. Fives.

Well, there is a 'guide' I wrote w/several other authors' input about 8 months ago that I never quite got around to finishing. It is by no means definitive but you can see it here (post #38)

Hey, that's the leader of the free world you're talking about! Too bad he still goes along with Georgie Bush as far as Iraq is concerned. (To our Canadian friends: If you think Stephen Harper is "the leader of the free world," you've been drinking too much Molson.)

454, fairly good, needs alittle tweaking.

I'm in a good mood, Tommy, and agree with your extremely well said sentiment, so here's a pack o' 5s for ya. Great job.

Red Ant, I finally got out of my own shell long enough to take a glance at your Guide, and even at first pass, it is excellent. I had figured some of that out myself already, but it would certainly have been better to have seen it upon first visit to the site (e.g. I did post 10 the first weekend in excitement - classic, huh?) Could CG put a prominent link to it on the home page or the submission page, in addition to his own Guidelines? The question of OS repeated chorus is really a tough one. One addtional conflict is whether to start fishing for weaker rhymes in order to vary a chorus when there are only enough really strong rhymes to mirror the original (which repeats). That was the case in a couple I submitted tonight that (I hope) will post Fri. 3 Feb. John, Michael, Stephen, Kristof, TUVM. Now that I'm out of the shell a bit, I'm planning to try to catch up on all of the regulars' latest posts this weekend, but with a newly-discovered treasure trove of 35k+ existing ones, plus the sidesplitting misheards, it'll take a while. 555 for everyone's input and encouragement ;-D

Thanks for taking a look at that guide Tommy T, I'm glad you got something out of it. I was going to submit it as a news article but after I wrote it it needed fairly major revisions and I've found since then I've changed my style and approach to writing/commenting/etc. several times. Someday I'll get it finished.

As far as repeating choruses goes it is more important to vary them if one chooses to enter SOTM competitions. Here is an alternate chorus (which may be/probably is factually incorrect but humor me) that still hits all of the end-line rhymes fairly well (syllable emphasis may be off a bit):

Blair and Bush
They're quite a pair
Commiting these atrocities
And they don't care
'bout a better world for you and me
I do declare
They're crazy together

Oh, I noticed you mentioned misheard lyrics. I think you might enjoy this (shameless plug):

That's good. I had already used "pair" to rhyme once, though (1st verse). There is one extra beat in the "better world" line. Could leave out the "a", etc.

Will try to vary choruses (chori?) when able.

As someone who always thought that Blair was Mr. Bush's poodle, this one gets a hearty 555 from me! Nicely done!

Wendy Christopher: Among your other verbal skills, you're an expert euphemist! (TT's an expert ewe-phemist, heh!) "Poodle" -- uh, yeah, a female one (dog). Great comment - thanks!
